Pretty brutal Pel's analysis on The Mismatch. Zion's defense called "brutal" and his lack of effort on that end "sickening."

It really is sickening. He, and everyone else wuite frankly, need to be way way better on defense.

Yep and it’s why we’re being patient on the rebuild. Don’t drain all your assets while he’s growing. When he gets close to Shaq/Lebron level (whether his full potential is 75% or 100% of their level of impact on the game) then flip all your assets to make your team the best it can be. We’re not “wasting” another year of Zion who’s played 40 nba games so far as mentioned in another thread.

i don't think you realize what this means

for example, we have to pay Lonzo ridiculous money (17-20M/year) and take the risk he's not untradeable in a couple years

we have to trade JJ for a worse player making as much money

etc

it's going to be real tough to do this in 2 years or so unless we keep these salaries on the books to facilitate that deal

Lonzo isn’t getting that from us and Id be surprised if we don’t simply let him walk if we can’t trade him by the deadline.

The comparison to Barrett was LOL funny. Barrett is on what is probably his best 5 game stretch of his career, and it's still not even close to as good as Zion's last 5 games

It has been better as of late, but it was really, really bad in the Bubble and as well into the 1st 10 games of the season. Lack of effort is something most Pels fans have seen as well as most of the dudes covering the NBA, I'd say those arguing he hasn't shown a lack of effort are the far outliers.

Oh we do? Who’s giving Lonzo that much money? And if some team does...bye bye. Do not repeat the Eric Gordon mistake.

if our plan is to accumulate assets, we can't just let one like Lonzo walk

also, if our plan is to accumulate assets to make a deal for a third star, we're going to need excess salary to make that work

how do we do that if we let 30-40M in salary disappear this offseason?

Additional cap space, MLE, plus upwards of maybe $10 mil from some combo of young player salaries(Hayes/NAW/Kira) that would have to be added to that trade.

It would be fairly easy to match the salary imo.

But we won't get a Beal or 3rd star for meh dudes and draft picks. We'll have to add those young probably 2-3 of the young dudes I mentioned and the next 1st round pick.
