I wonder if Jones and his representatives thought too highly of his value to other teams. Milwaukee is in a similar, albeit slightly better, playoff position than we are, and his path to playing time doesn't seem much clearer there. It seems like he may have done better just staying here.

Agreed. He, or more accurately his agent, went bust on that gamble.

Yeah made them look like malcontents. I heard multiple people unfamiliar with the situation say "something is wrong with him and the Pelicans for them to cut him now".

Jabari Parker tore his ACL and is out the rest of the season. They traded Plumlee for Hibbert and Hawes who aren't even playing. This is a small ball team. Greg Monroe is the big on the roster that has played the most minutes not counting Parker and he's a 22 MPG bench player. I wouldn't surprised if Jones eventually worked his way into the starting lineup with Parker out.

Whoops, forgot about that. Doesn't help that ESPN still has him listed as the starting PF on MIL's depth chart.

Jones averaged 17/7 as a starter in 12 games, but in the 4 games he started because AD was out he averaged 26/9. If he becomes the starter and Milwaukee makes the playoffs someone's going to way overpay him next season.
