Given his age and size, Zions maintenance has to be way over 3k a day. He should be doing well over 1k of activity a day, sometimes more. So he has to eat over 4k just to not lose weight. He should have never gained. Should have come off really quick. I hope he keeps it off..

You're technically right, but I think there's more to it than this. I think they don't want any wheat, breads, white rice, potatoes, et cetera.

100% doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be better. And it sounds like he is on the right track unless he is sneaking in an extra 2-3 meals a day his chef does not know about lol.

And I’d say, based on the way he has been looking the last month or so, “and most of all I’m not going to let myself down”, I get the sense that Zion is taking his new dietary plan seriously, even if he doesn’t absolutely love it at the moment, which his chef pretty heavily alluded to.

Everyone hates change at first when it comes to fitness and diet. If he keeps with it he’ll reach a point where soda and junk food isn’t something he craves at all anymore. That just takes time and he’s probably only been on this program for a few months.

Just saw this. It’s kinda understandable if he gained weight, while he had a meniscus tear and a fractured foot. You can’t maintain the same level of physical activities while you are injured like that.

And obviously the injuries did a bit of a number on him mentally as well.

So his normal 4500 calorie, burning 1500 days, might have ended up turning into 5000-6000 calorie and less than 500 burn when he couldn’t run or do basketball activities. People are different. Some people don’t eat when they are down, others eat more.

Those are the times he’s been 330 pounds, when he’s been 2 months into significant injuries that impact even him walking around.

Obviously you can probably do pool work and all of that, and Zion seemed to figure out how to get in shape while not also being fully healthy during his Portland Stint.

He obviously didn’t handle things perfectly the first few years, and that coupled with bad luck, Covid, etc has resulted in a weird 3 years. He does seem to have a different level of commitment and understanding now though and that is a positive moving forward.

Uh yeah, I was in the best shape of my life like the vast majority of the population. It is not normal to yoyo your weight by 50-100bs every few months. But I'm an older guy who is close to 50 and was never a professional athlete.

I was a fat guy and have battled weight for the past few years. So I'm sympathetic to the struggle. But those issues run deeper than an injury. He has a bad relationship with food and has to be binging. Those issues could follow him his entire life and have to be a focus. It's a shocking thing which is why it's gained so much attention. It's not going to be fixed with just a cook..

You are either a full time troll or completely clueless. A chef (not a "cook") will make a HUGE difference in anyone's health and weight. It is amazing how you can diagnose his issues from behind your screen. I assume you must be a professional phycologist and nutritionist.

I looked up what the paleo diet is and I'm assuming when he said no carbs he was talking about things like potatoes, bread, rice, etc.

Your photo is the exact opposite of what he said too.

"Giving him all the healthy stuff. Different grains.... We're working on a Paleo diet.

Your picture: Paleo diet - avoid grains.

Luckily once the human body adjusts to long enough without eating a certain way, you can’t go back. Like people I know who stopped drinking cokes try one again and can’t finish it because of how sweet it is.

you are totally right. I stopped cokes a long time ago. But I tried one a year after stopping and couldn’t have more than a sip. The sugar was just overpowering and I actually had a pain in my side. I haven’t had an actual soft drink in 15 years or so now.

Unless you are a baby sucking on your mom’s tit, or enjoying a milk product as an occasional dessert, milk serves no positive nutritional benefit to the human body after breast feeding.

Yep. Can't do it anymore. I use a sodastream or drink sparkling water for that soda kick

I personally disagree with this. When I was 14-15 years old, I was 5ft 5 ish.

Based on Doc recommendation, I started drinking a 16-24 oz glass of whole milk combined with carnation instant breakfast 3 times a day, and within 2 years, I was 6ft 2 on a good day. And my projected height before that was 5ft 6- 5ft 9. All of the milk also helped with my weight as I was quite skinny in High School.

Maybe it was a coincidence, but it sure didn’t seem like it.

After high school, I basically never drank milk again, (occasionally would mix it in with protein for weight gain), but I do feel like Milk serves a purpose if you are still in your growth and developmental years.

milkfat is my personal weakness. I can chug straight heavy cream from the carton. It’s to the point where whole milk isn’t getting it done

my wife gets whole unpasteurized goats milk from the farmers market and it is sooo good

I grew up on a farm and milked a cow everyday, and I can confirm that unpasteurized milk tastes amazing. People have no idea how much flavor is lost in the pasteurization process.
