Are we getting the Superscreen this season or the following season and the Smoothie King Center?

IIRC SKC gets it this season and Superdome is next

ETA: yep I recalled correctly

quote:

The Smoothie King Center will hoist a new center-hung HD video scoreboard which is scheduled to be in place for the start of the 2015-16 NBA season.

Two state-of-the-art LED video boards will be installed in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and are scheduled to be completely installed prior to the start of the 2016 NFL season.

I wonder why they backed away from the center-hung idea for the Superdome, but I guess that is a better ? for the Saints board?

probably so the punters won't hit it
personally I think a huge screen hanging over the football field is distracting

Has that actually been a problem in Cowboys' games? I guess the sightline angles of the MBSD could have been a problem. The sightlines at AT&T stadium were designed with the screen in mind and the MBSD in 40 years old so that could have been a problem.

Is this basically what they had during All-Star Weekend? I don't know why they didn't just leave it in.

IIRC the NBA owns or leased those screens and install them at every NBA All-Star game.

The Pelicans center hung was actually hidden inside the All-Star center hung.

The new one is supposed to be nearly identical to All-Star.

it's weird we didn't do them both the same season - not really sure why you'd delay on the Dome one.

I guess - it's crazy how fortunate Benson's investments have been though. Tons of people thought he overpaid for the Pelicans and then BAM! Less than 2 years later the Clips sell for like $2 Billion, the Bucks (least valuable team) get valued at $600 million and Benson's investment has already doubled. That's on top of how much fun he's had with the Saints and the fact that the football investment has gone up like 1000% since he bought the team in the mid 1980's. That will never happen again in sports - his timing was basically impeccable.
