I wouldn't say its been great basketball, but its been eventful with all of these guys fighting to make rosters. Just wondering if anyone else was watching all the games they could.

I'm definitely getting my $15 worth. It's been pretty fun to watch so far.

Yea, I did it because, as an armchair gm, I figured it was my duty to see if there was any possible centers that wouldn't make their rosters that we could get for cheap.

The guy I'm most intrigued about is Salah Mejri, he's Tunisian, 7', quick feet, can take his man off the dribble, and just plays hard, constantly harassing his man. But, his major problem is that he gets pushed around, he's not hasheem thabeet thin but he could stand to gain some weight.

Here's a HW write up on day 1 from Orlando. It's in Studs and Duds format. It's too long to paste so I'll just list the names. LINK

Studs:
Andrew Nicholson (Orlando Magic, Power Forward)
Carleton Scott (Brooklyn Nets, Small Forward)
Jared Sullinger (Boston Celtics, Power Forward)
Kyle O’Quinn (Orlando Magic, Power Forward)
Brandon Knight (Detroit Pistons, Point Guard)

Duds:
MarShon Brooks (Brooklyn Nets)
Fab Melo (Boston Celtics, Center)
Cole Aldrich (Oklahoma City Thunder, Center)
Enes Kanter (Utah Jazz, Center)

Thank God we didn't end up with him. Dude looks like he doesn't belong 50 feet within a basketball.

i've watched every game so far...I love the summer league. without it, there would be this terrible lull in July with no Hornets or Saints

Exactly man, plus I hate baseball.

Have you noticed this Mejri guy? If so, what did you think?

I was really high on this guy coming out of the draft, I think he is going to fill the exact role Ryan Anderson played for the Magic, big kid 6'10 who can shoot it from deep. Was happy to see him light it up yesterday.

I don't know. This sounds a bit scary.

quote:

So what's the big deal with Jones' knees? They looked pretty alright in his first game Monday and for two years at Baylor? Would 24 teams really dare pass on him just because of that? Well, consider this from Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated CBS Sports:

NBA scout told me today his team's docs believe Perry Jones's knees will only hold up for 3-4 years in the league. Explains why he dropped.

LINK

Although to be fair, this seems to be coming out of nowhere. He was dropping down draft boards supposedly for mental/emotional reasons, now all of a sudden he's DeJuan Blair?

ya, i hadn't really heard about the knee thing til his game yesterday...He looks ok out on the court. But ya, if he only has 3 years, that would definitely explain him dropping.

Yeah, I find these knee rumors extremely hard to believe. There's been no hints of such a problem watching him play for almost 3 years. I don't get it.

I remember hearing about his knee mabye a couple of days before the draft (he even talked about it in an interview, but he said everything was fine with it), but I think that, the lack of true position, and the alleged "lack of motor/hustle" at Baylor is what caused him to drop.
