Guess what? If the Pelicans let him walk we will have to get PG/SG/SF/depth with 14 or so million. IF we keep him we only need SG/SF/depth.. and take a wild guess at how much money we would have to fill those spots.... STILL 14 MILLION.

This is awesome

This board is so much more entertaining when they're turning on each other like this. Prior to the trade, the whole board was in agreement that the team needed to TANK and keep adding. Now it's all over the place! Pure chaos

For all of the people that want to let Jrue walk, who is the better guard you think we can sign in the off-season?

We have 3 players right now and a bad coach. Why were did not run the high low with either AD or DC flashing in the paint AD had 27 points in the 1st half and did not score again until the 4th qrt

Gentry wants to play with pace with 2 big men and no outside shooting they double team the post and nobody on the pels dives through the paint

Glad more than a few see that, who else should we target? JH needs to step it up...23 games to go. Gentry ...that's another story/ cannot coach.

I think this is a stupid question to be asking based on Holiday playing some of his worst ball since he's been here. It's also not the right question. You aren't going to find a better player with the $16.9 cap hold Holiday will have, but what if you did a S&T? You won't likely get picks or anything, but you could get some worthwhile players, possibly better than what you could get with $16.9 million worth of cap space.

That way you operate under the cap like you were planning to and do an uneven trade and after that do the S&T. Maybe you could do Holiday to Atlanta for Bazemore and one of their young wings or a Hardaway Jr. S&T. Holiday would have to agree to go there so it'd need to be a really good team or market, but if you can find the right trade it'd be a better option than what $16.9 million in cap space would give you.

This is what I wanted find out. Rather than the proverbial there is no one better at 25 mil. Through what others means can we get another player , at what price and what openings does that move clear us moving forward... Thanks ATL..

A S&T for something useful is hard to pull off. It has to be the best move available to all 3 parties. Back when David West was leaving Demps had a S&T lined up with Boston for E'Tuanne Moore and another young prospect, but at the last minute West chose to sign with Indy who had cap space so they didn't need us. If Philly throws out a max offer and no potential trade partners want to match there's not much you can do.

I mentioned Atlanta because they could use a secondary creator next to Schroeder and have an over supply of wings. From Holiday's perspective they are also an established playoff team with 2 other star players, a coach with a good reputation and although Atlanta may not be the best fan base, it is a good city from an NBA players perspective.

So Would Jrue have to approve where he goes to on the S&T or can the pels pull the trigger w/o consultation?

Yes, Jrue would have to approve, he's an unrestricted free agent and can sign wherever he wants. If Holiday agrees it's because he gets to go to a team without cap space that he'd rather play for more than any of the teams with cap space that want him. Other than the money, I really don't think Philly is as appealing as the NBA2K experts on this board think. Holiday isn't going to a team because he thinks they might be good in 3 years. Like most players on their 3rd contract, he wants to win now. IMO a team like Atlanta would appeal to him way more than Philly if the money was the same.

Thanks..understood, appreciate the information.

If Jrue is traded it has to be a contender or near future contender...
