If the Pels sign Evans to the deal they offer him and buyout Lopez. How much is available still to bring in another C?

If you have Twitter (even if you don't), look at Bourbon Street Shot's from last night. They did a good job of explaining all of this.

BSS says we will use one of our exceptions to grab a center. Depending on GV being moved, we could have 4 million plus an exception to grab a SF as well. Aminu is looking more and more like a pel lock to me.

We can live with him if we're going to have Evans and Darius Miller taking a good chunk of his minutes.

He can't shoot for shite, but he can rebound and play a little D.

Starting to think the same thing, which I'm not all the upset about. Although he's extremely limited offensively, he provides us with a skill set that we probably wouldn't have on the roster with out him.

Glad to see everyone's stances changing on Aminu. His biggest problem last year was being thrust into a role he was clearly not suited for.

Aminu should be more useful with a quicker overall team right?

Aminu is pretty good at running out for dunks and garbage points.

If he could just hit the corner threeeeeeee

Aminu is a great bandaid player. He can play defense and allow others around him to do the scoring. Small forwards across the league are mainly scorers and aminu can at least neautralize that postion defensively out of his pure athelticism. He will catch oops and dunks because that is his game and he will allow the others around him to excel even more. He is a lock and is still improving.

i like the guy. don't think he's an NBA starter, but he can fill the gap until we have money to get someone better. if he's playing D and rebounding, two things he does as good as if not better than ariza, then he's fine.

In relation to the Z graph that's been discussed before, Aminu definitely has a spot on this team. It would be interesting to see the graph with Evans and Holiday on there.

Yeah, I can see retaining him for the low and bringing him off the bench.

But I also want to see What miller can do.

Most definitely. His biggest games, the games that had people stupidly questioning not picking up his option, were games where the team was able to run in transition. Lopez and Vasquez are very unlikely to be Pelicans next season and their upgrades should have enough speed to make running a regularity. Aminu will probably benefit enough from that that people will complain Chief ain't getting enough minutes

We already know Jrue will be faster than Vasquez.

Got an idea of who we may bring in as a center who is faster than Sideshow Rob?

Same here. He can be the other 3 point shooter we need to spread the floor (39% for us, 51% in the D-League).

As constructed, the Evans deal will kill the cap room.

you will have a $2.6 Room MLE to use, min salary exceptions, and trade assets to fill the roster.

Pencil Aminu in at the Room MLE, and you have to flip V for a cheaper center, hopefully one needeing fewer minutes than Lopez.

Leave Aminu off, then you are looking for a forward in trade, looking to sign a center.

How bad of a center are we willing to take for that cheap?

Some cheap centers who could be on the market, either via FA or trade, could include Greg Stiemsma of Minny, Brendan Haywood of Charlotte, Joel Freeland of Portland, Jordan Hill of the Lake Show, Nazr Mohammed, Cole Aldrich (don't laugh), Hamed Haddadi, Earl Barron, etc.

Most of these guys are bench depth more than anything else, but I don't think it matters much if we're going full-on San Antonio and will spend most of the minutes with Davis playing the 5.

People are assuming the Pels will be the only ones to offer Aminu or something?

He will be out of our price range when it comes down to it.

He will get $2-3m more than should much like Evans. Still young, athletic, shown flashes... goes a long way.

He may very well be gone IF he doesn't have an arrangement with the team.

He may also be randomly left off of the larger money options.

Fair points, Gyn.

Fun, isn't it?
