The offense looked so different and really good. I think a great HC hires great assistants and Borrego was a great hire. Even his halftime speech with Jen was probably the best analysis Ive seen from a pelicans assistant in a long time. Let’s give it up for maybe the best offseason pickup for this team.

I still think we haven't seen anywhere near what Borrego has in store for this unit. I'm excited to see what they look like 40 games in.

Last night we saw Zion/BI playing off each other a lot more in one game than we have ever seen in the previous 4 seasons together combined.

Ive been begging for Zion/BI pick and roll for a while. Its like Borrego so all the issues we saw as fans and is fixing them.

That play where BI/ Zion were isolated and then Z kicked to wide open CJ was beautiful. That ball movement and spacing is exactly what we need to build on.

Can Borrego find a way to coach Zion to hold the ball with 2 hands when he jumps?

i mean, last night was great but it was 1/82. i think we need a larger sample size before we sing his praises. that being said, last night was encouraging and i am hoping to see that continued

Lol you’re so worried hes going to get hurt? I know what you mean but man when he flushed it with that one hand- those are the sportcenter highlights lol

For sure. But the recognition of what grizz were doing and adapting your offense to that, finding a way to run your offense even when the defense is try to muck it up and staying away from iso ball- I never saw any of these things in any game last year. Thats why its so encouraging.

Nope not the point at all. I’m worried about the 6 times a game he jumps to dunk the ball without the actual ball in his hand. Has to improve handles and ball security with drives and take off. It’s his biggest flaw and really always has been besides staying healthy.

He lost the ball a couple times but its his first game since January. Honestly when he was in the MVP flow in December he was fine. I honestly don’t think thats a big deal with everything else he brings to the game. What might help with all that is if he starts hitting the middie which he did last night. It’ll give him more space to operate.

He’s been fumbling the ball while driving to the basket since the day we drafted him. And just about every type of player from an elite defender to a high school girls basketball player has been able to stick their hand in the lane and poke the ball out.

Yes the HS comparison was dramatic. Point still stands. Ball security is his biggest caveat

You’re making mountain out of a mole hill. Hes not a real point guard. He just like BI and CJ and has some turnovers but it isn’t this huge weakness you’re making it out to be. The reason defenders are in there so much is they know he’s going to drive, again if he starts hitting a few middies or even a three here and there, he’ll have more space. His only weakness is just health otherwise hes an elite nba player and honestly most elite nba players have turnovers due to how much they have the ball.

It is his biggest weakness. It’s his only weakness outside of staying healthy. That’s why I’m making a mountain out of it.

We all know he can finish over elite defenders. But it’s frustrating knowing he can finish over elite defenders and get stripped by an average/ shite defender or lose control of the ball without anyone touching him.

“get stripped by an average AAU player or lose control of the ball without anyone touching him.”

- he was playing against 2 former DPOY and Grizz are good defensive team. Again elite players who handle the ball majority of the time also have a lot of turnovers. This is not a big deal. You are completely overreacting.

I remember the game when we played against the Jazz. Seeing what Kessler was doing to Zion when he kept doing one hand was frustrating

Buddy my reference data is not 1 game with 2 DPOY. It’s a sample size of 115 games with an average of 32mpg….

He has been doing the same things since his actual first game. It was the first concern people had and the fact that it hasn’t gotten much better is concerning

Buddy the top 4 players who averaged the most turnovers last year were Trae, Giannis, Luka and Jokic. Elite players who have the ball a lot in their hands turnover the ball. You are completely overreacting and not a big concern.

Just to hammer my point Giannis averages 3.0 turnovers per game and Jokic 3.6. Zion in the games hes played averages 3.0. Again you are overreacting.

You can call it an over reaction all you want.

When we leave 10-20 pts on the board a game because of shitty ball security it’s the difference between taking that next step

3pt %/ FT %/ Ball security

2/3 look like they are showing improvement.

If Zion develops his shot then it’s slightly over reactive. If he is only going to drive to the rim every time then his ball security and handling has to get less sloppy.

Bro I don’t understand why you keep arguing. Hes an elite player offensively. Thats a fact. He averages the same amount of turnovers or less than other elite offensive players. Technically ball security is not an issue. Just take the “L” on this and call it a day.

You're right. We should flat-out cut the bum.

Sheesh...after leading practically wire-to-wire in a victory over the defending division champion.
