pretty much how I feel. He gave us a good run and then left, deal with it.

If you were working for a cheap, poorly run company and you had a way to get out and work for a better company you would do it.

This isn't something I conjured up myself or anything

It was widely rumored and reported for a while.

Chris Paul always seemed like a nice guy. I just fricking hate who he is on the court, and I hated the way he quit on us.

Doc wasn't there when CP was traded, Del Negro was. And any situation was probably better than playing in New Orleans at that time.

Nope.

He has said nothing but good things about this city and the fans when he easily could have trashed both. Also, it was 4 years ago and it delivered us a possibly once-in-a-generation player. Get over it.

I doubt many people were reading more about the team than I was at the time, and I never heard the "black coach" thing once. Also, considering he left a team with a black coach (Monty) to go to a team with a white coach (Vinny) and a super racist owner (widely known even then), I find that whole thing pretty far-fetched.

I searched Chris Paul wants black coach and found many articles. They all seem to be running the same story from "multiple sources", but it was most definitely out there so I'm not sure how you missed it.

PAUL’S GO-TO GUY

Chris Paul’s preference is to stay with the Clippers but he wants them to hire an African-American coach, according to multiple league sources

There was a LOT of press on this issue, I don't know how you missed it.

This was after he left for the Clippers, by the way.

Paul and others signing to play for an infamously racist owner is part of what made last year's Clippers scandal so ridiculous. Everybody who follows basketball has known that Donald Sterling was a racist for decades, but the league-wide outrage didn't kick in until it was the trendy thing to do.

Such bullshite.

Yea I think he's under the assumption this request was made while Paul was a Hornet, hence the line about reading so much Hornets-related press at the time.

Absolutely.

That last season he was with us there was a stretch where it was obvious he was quitting. I remember a game in NY when Toney fricking Douglas outplayed him. It was night after night when average PGS were better than him. Then came the playoff series against the Lakers when he wanted teams to know who he really was he turned back into the best PG in the league.

It's been 4 years. I'm over him. If I had my say, I wish the fans would do what we did in high school when Holy Cross came to play us. When Holy Cross was announced everyone in the stands pulled out old newspapers and pretended like they were reading it.

That could explain it. I certainly wasn't going out of my way to read about CP after he left here. I do vaguely remember some stuff after Vinny was fired. I was all for getting Sterling out of the league, but all the faux shock and outrage from guys who willingly went there to work for him was annoying.

I remember that well, the guy that made "Sons" a thing here started a rumor on a Spurs board that David West called out CP3 in the locker room

I'm not mad at him for leaving, I probably would have too.

I'm mad at him for his effort his last season
