but how is his defense?

Check his game log. These are the "NBA caliber" PGs he's matched up against.

Kendall Marshall - 22pt 15ast, 22pt 4ast
Seth Curry - 23pt 4ast
Ronald "Flip" Murray - 18pts 11ast
Isaiah Canaan - 26pts 10ast

He may get abused defensively by NBA PGs

quote:

Jackson's biggest negative at this time may be on the defensive end. His size, perhaps generously listed at 5'10", will always present significant matchup problems for him at the next level. Beyond that, while Jackson, when engaged, can move his feet well, it's his overall effort and attentiveness on this end of the court that may make it hard to find a spot for him at the next level. Jackson will simply fall asleep off the ball with alarming regularity. He also struggles to fight through screens, seemingly giving up very early in the process, resulting in a lot of unnecessary switches and defensive mismatches. Combine that with the disadvantage his height presents and the defensive side of the court is going to be a huge question mark decision makers have about his NBA prospects.

quote:

Jackson is hampered by his diminutive dimensions on the defensive end of the floor in particular. His 7'6” standing reach would be the smallest of any prospect in our historical database to ever play in the NBA.

Monty thinks he can't play defense. No need for him.

Which is why I want to sign him now instead of selling low and missing out on a potential long-term impact player.

I see him more of an aaron brooks...has his moments where his made an impact, but overall, just a decent player.

Brooks is a fair comparison that I've heard before. He has been an impact player for 8 years in the league too. However, he can't do this: The "real" Pierre the Pelican

I've also seen/heard comparisons to Nate Robinson, who has also been an impact player for quite a while now.

Isnt Devin Ebanks crushing it and got let go by the lakers?
So maybe dominating the D League doesn't necessarily mean much.

To that point, any NBA star would be dominating the D League too if they were there. It can go both ways.

The 2 plays from :24-:36 are jaw-dropping.

I really am intrigued by his potential. I still see him as a match up bench player, not an every night bench player, but it'd be nice to trot him out in the middle of a quarter and make the opposing team's starter chase him around for a few minutes.

Did you see that 2nd dunk? Very nice dunk for a 5'11" dude. He threw that down nice.

He has a reported 43" vertical... Not many players EVER could leap like that. He's so explosive off the dribble too.

Looking at his stats, ya boy likes to shoot. At least 20+ a night. Doesn't seem like he'd be happy for a spot bench player.

He's jacking em up at a Allen Iverson rate.

As long as he doesn't need a bunch of minutes to get in a rhythm and can come out guns blazing he'll get plenty of minutes on this team. I'd recommend starting him in the 3rd quarter...

He does shoot a lot, I'm guessing that's what the coaches are asking.
But still shooting 45% with 20+ attempts/game.
He averaged 7 assists and 20 pts at Baylor on less shots and minutes though.

It's not like he has anyone to pass to. You cant at least give him the benefit of the doubt?

He's the perfect bench spark plug. Doesn't need much to get in a rhythm and with those dunks at that height? The fans would love him. Or he'll get himself killed when someone challenges him in the air and knocks him on his glutes.

Either way. His lack of D ain't much of an issue either. Not like we'd use him as a starter the way we use Roberts. Roberts ain't much of a defender either but he's still 6'1"ish.

McNamara said a few days ago the reason why they havent brought him up is because they dont want to give him a rookie contract and pay the minimum for him.

For the love of God. No one in the DLeague can guard a high volume shooter who's quick like PJ. 28-36 guys can shut him down without batting an eyelash in the NBA. On the other hand, PJ can guard everyone in the DLeague w/o exposing himself for the most part, but I'd be shocked if he could hang with many NBA starting PGs.
Having watched two of PJ's games, I can honestly attest to his abilities. Ceiling right now: Isaiah Thomas of the Kings, and if you think that's good, here is the only fact you need- the Kings are 15-30 (or 5th worst team in the L).
Yeah, you should be happy our D-leauger is doing work, but there's a fricking reason the Pels haven't called him up. He doesn't add anything to the table that BR or AR can't do. Nothing. He can't defend like AR, and there's no way in hell he can score or is as confident in his shot as BR.
PJ will make his name known in due time, be patient

Possible Pierre Jackson related news. Nate Robinson tore his ACL. Denver is 3.5 games out of the 8 spot and their GM used to be our assistant GM and is the guy that found Brian Roberts. I don't know what Dever's goals for the season are, make the playoffs because you're close or tank because you're a new regime with lots of injuries. But if they are aiming for the playoffs they could have interest in Roberts with Connely's connection to him, which might effect us calling up Pierre, or they could want Pierre.

quote:

Denver’s Nate Robinson had surgery to repair his torn ACL in his left knee on Friday and he is done for the season, the team reported Friday.

They also do have Andre Miller, so this actually could be a non story for us, but right now he's been getting the Chris Kaman treatment, they put him on the trade block and stopped playing him a month ago.
