Don't know if it has already been posted but this could be a way to get a 1st rounder.

No it isn't. The key phrase is:

to free up cap space

The Pelicans do not have cap space to offer the Bulls. What Chicago is looking for is a team to take Boozer and send nothing back for one of those picks, like Golden State did with Utah when they landed Iggy.

Yeah Chicago is a definite possibility, but I think we would prefer to use our future pick in a pairing to dump Gordon.

Is his contract fully guaranteed? Because if so, no one is taking Boozer.

Clippers get our voidable scrubs. Pels get Dudley and cap space Charlotte gets Gordon, Pierre and #28

cant get this to work in the trade machine
charlotte is taking on 14mm in salary, with no $$ going out and only $2.5mm in cap space before the trade

Yep, no options on his contract. He is in the final year, though.

This is a trade that would not be completed until July 1st when the books roll over to the next fiscal year. Ben Gordon ($13.2) and Luke Ridinour ($4.3) come off the books. Charlotte will have about $44 million in salaries then and the cap will be $63.2, so that's $19 million in cap space. The deal would be agreed to before hand and we would draft who Charlotte wanted.

Even if Chicago is giving up both draft picks to get rid of Boozer, there are very few teams that can just absorb him without sending out salary. It has to be a multi team deal or they absorb at least some salary back.

They would be trading away the guaranteed cap holds for their 1st rounders this year for future picks. How is that not freeing up cap space?

Philly and Orlando would have the cap space to take on Boozer, and they are at a stage of their rebuilds where they aren't likely to sign any big money FAs.

I could see Philly doing it. Fair point.

If that's what they're doing then yes, but everything I've read about them this offseason starts and ends with their cheap ownership really, really, really doesn't want to amnesty Boozer meaning using those picks to make him go away.

I would cry tears of joy if we could turn EG into Dudley

Aced has posted an article on possible targets with the pick, although I have no idea why he thinks we have the juice to get one in the 15-20 range. LINK /

I've been thinking about this some more and wondering if we might see multiple moves. Lets say Melvin Ely and filler is enough to get you #28 and Dudley. Could you then turn Pierre + #28 into a higher pick? We know Memphis had interest in Pierre, would they fall back 6 spots to get him and give us #22? That seems reasonable enough, so what does #22 get us that #28 can't?

Is #22 enough to get you someone like Monroe for Gordon straight up? Could it maybe get you Gordon for Larry Sanders without taking back OJ Mayo?

There is a lot of interest in Sanders right now. They might be able to use that (or John Henson) to get another pick in the draft. Point guard is an area they'd like more help at and there are several intriguing point guards a little later in the draft. I know the Bucks would love another Lottery pick, but the cost is high right now.

Sanders entering drug rehab, thought to be "untradeable":

I think that he would be a really good fit on this team, but he's looking like too big of a risk, even if it means getting rid of Gordon.

Wow, the Bucks are even more screwed than usual.
