exactly

ty lawson is an all-star in the east...while ryan anderson is a rotation player. i hope you are right and anderson nets something spectacular, but his age/injury/contract/bad season all conspire against that

im not saying hes not worth a lottery pick, i'm saying nobody is going to trade one for him

Nice to see that this is the 3rd straight year where Ryan Anderson and/or Eric Gordon are shoved onto the Pistons.

FWIW, I want no part in Anderson. He is not a quality starter. Much rather have the 8.

I just looked at the roster for this thread and the Pistons have some holes if Monroe leaves for nothing. Are they going slow build or do they feel the need to make the playoffs?

I think the writing on the wall is that Monroe is gone. That will hurt, short-term, but I think the Pistons will benefit long-term.

In my opinion, the Pistons do not need to mortgage the future to get a veteran starter. Pistons were, if my recollection is correct, 27-27 after they let Josh Smith go. They should be, at least, a .500 team this upcoming year. That is dependent on a few variables that I consider to be givens (continued development of Andre, KCP, Reggie, etc). I think this is especially true, since they seemed to play better when Monroe was injured, as they had better spacing.

Pistons would have a hole to fill at the 4 with Monroe gone. Pistons also have the worst group of SFs in the league. They have the ability to draft a 3/4, and use their abundant cap space to fill the other need. Any SF (Johnson, Winslow, Hezonja) or even Porzingis will be no worse than the crap (Singler, Butler) they trotted out last year.

Is SVG impatient after 1 year of bad basketball? He says he is. I hope he isn't. Pistons aren't winning the championship next year. Might as well keep gaining young assets, IMO.

its a shame but team-building in the east is done under a completely different set of circumstances, almost like a different league altogether

.500 gets you comfortably in the playoffs

i agree with you, there is no urgency for the pistons to punt on this draft and load up with vets

What if Sacramento wanted to package the pick with Cousins and say a Jason Thompson or Derrick Williams for Eric Gordon, Ryan Anderson, Pondexter, our 2nd round pick this year and next year and our first round pick in 2017

Need to package another future 2nd rounder to sweeten the deal.
