#pelicans coach Alvin Gentry talking to @The_Greenbrier owner Jim Justice. Team negotiating to hold camp here too.

There's grainy photos of Gentry at Saints TC talking to Justice.

I can't tell if this is serious or not. Why would the Pels need to go to the Greenbriar? Do they even have a great basketball facility?

The Saints go there because of the heat and all that. The Pels would be inside. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Forced bonding? Team chemistry already seems pretty good, but I know the football teams always talk about that aspect of camp as a positive.

It could be good for bonding, but basketball is a whole different type of beast than football. And we have a state of the art facility here. I don't know if buy this story.

It could be a cool get away to break the routine of camp and build chemistry. Especially with us playing a preseason game in Lexington Ky.

I wonder if Benson owns stock in Greenbriar? Or does Loomis have a summer place up there?

How long does everyone saying something like this think training camp is? A few weeks away from the distractions of home to implement a new system with a new staff sounds like a good idea to me.

It's annoying to the players though which is ultimately what matters. They want to chill and play FIFA on their projection TV's in their swanky CBD condos, not sleep on a fricking cot with a 21" tube tv and crappy food. NBA is different than the NFL - this college type of shite doesn't work. Guarantee you Gentry isn't behind this.

I mean The Greenbrier might not be their cup of tea because it's old fashioned and bourgeois, but it's not exactly a Motel 6...

Yeah. From what I understand it's top notch. I think the players will actually love it. Something different. I don't fully get it with our beautiful facility but I do think the players will like it.

yeah it's more like a camping trip to get away than training camp

it's not like I thought it'd be... so in a weird way I'm ok w/ it

ETA: most of the preseason will be spent in NOLA... in fact I think by the time the 1st preseason game comes... they'll be back in NOLA already
