ESPN sources say that the Pelicans are hiring Danny Ferry at the urging of GM Dell Demps, who worked closely with Ferry in San Antonio.

I believe it was Melo that said no free agents would want to sign with ATL as long as Ferry was there. Oh well not like we were attracting free agents to begin with.

Ralph Malbrough is one of the biggest retards in New Orleans "media".

Ferry is a decent GM, actually.

Link?

Not surprising.

Total bullshite though. Ferry was just a scapegoat. He didn't even do anything wrong. He even went to bat for Deng and tried to sign him despite that scout's report.

Right now Loomis is that extra cook. It will be interesting if they release contract length. Maybe this is a one year trial and if they get things back on track Loomis will step back and Ferry becomes POBO? One can hope at least.

SOURCES: This is not a move to go above Dell Demps' head. This was Demps' decision. He wanted an advisor w/ exec experience. #Pelicans

Scott Kushner ?@ScottDKushner
SOURCES: #Pelicans new advisor Danny Ferry will split his time between #NOLA and Atlanta. Won't be full-time in Pels offices.

Yeah, this not that uncommon. Just another voice in the room on a part time basis.

I'm willing to bet the stuff about Demps wanting another voice in the room is the Benson people saying "We want another voice in the room" and him bringing in a friend to blunt that a bit.

there's 2 extra cooks. you don't need 3 people overseeing signings and trades. how many successful franchises have 3 people doing that? how many have 2? how many have just a fricking GM?

For past two seasons, Demps has not had an official asst. GM (Tim Connelly was last one). This helps add another layer to the #Pelicans FO.
