I don't get why some of you are determined to view him in the worst light possible rather than an accurate lens. Per 36 during the season he averaged 13.6 which would make him 4th in the league behind Drummond, Jordan, and Whiteside. He was not well suited to a series against a running, guard driven team like the Warriors. Looking at the splits from this year had we been playing Memphis, Houston, OKC, San Antonio, he'd have had a big impact. Portland, Clippers, Warriors, Mavs the splits say he'd have a bad series, although I think Portland (which he only played 2 games against this year) is a series where he should be useful with Lopez and Aldridge. San Antonio needed both Splitter and Diaw to get to and win the finals last season. Unless you have a max level center you aren't going to have a guy that will look good against every team. How much you pay for him is certainly a valid question, but acting like he's a useless player in all situations is either disingenuous or ignorant, or perhaps both.
You make some good points and I agree he is probably the best we can expect. However, per 36 is irrelevant for him as he cannot play 36. He is a 24-26 minute player. He has limited stamina and gets very lazy even on defense as he tires.

It's that damn triple serving of Fettucine he regularly orders. AD isn't doing stuff with the national team this year so hopefully Asik isn't either and will stay in town and get in shape. A fitter and stronger Asik is an Asik that derps less often.

I'm not saying he doesn't do well at times, but to think he could have been a saving grace against the Warriors is asinine to me. He had a terrible match up in this series, which is why I do not understand why people are quick to defend him.

He had good games this year against teams he matched up well against, but the Warriors weren't that team.

I think you may have hit on something. I have no doubt that AD and, really, most of the team will work hard this summer. I think they're a solid bunch in that regard. But maybe Asik has never been challenged to improve his stamina, strength and ball handling ability. It's never too late to get better and to get in better basketball shape. It would be great if someone would light a fire under his arse and keep him away from the manti and baklava and get him to spend more time training.

This is a silly argument. Would you feel better if we used per minute? Per 36 is used because it normalizes stats, not because it projects stats.

I wish Ryan Anderson could get down to 225 lbs, that would allow him to be a little quicker and play the SF at times.
