To the extent it matters, Jordan's free throw percentage is horrendous, just for the record. I don't know that the addition of his offense is worth max money if we have other options. I doubt we're getting him anyway. I kind of agree with TigerinATL. If we're going to toss that kind of money at a center, I'd just as soon have Chandler for a couple of good years.

The pelicans need some size with average speed at center
We get Chandler we will probably lead the league in blocks, however who will guard centers like Jordan, Gasol, etc. If we go against a center with size we are undermatched. Jordan will back down AD and Tyson all the way to the goal and eventually need weak side help, that will turn into a pass back out to the perimeter for a 3.
The idea of Asik is perfect with AD, however Asik is alot slower, and uncoordinated than we thought
Deandre Jordan will be a perfect fit with AD, but I agree not for $20 million
Best case scenario is AD adds some more weight/muscle so we can get a player like Chandler for cheap and not be undermatched in size in the paint
Im sure someone will mention that we can always go small and make the other team go small. Monty Williams isnt the other teams coach. Any good coach will not automatically counter a small lineup, especially if we arent hitting 3's like Atlanta and Warriors do when they FORCE teams to go small
On a side note, If we can get a center for cheap... Like Tyson. And we can convince Tristian Thompson to take the same amount of minutes Anderson had. IF WE GO SMALL, Tristan Thompson can out rebound almost anyone
Jrue

THOMPSON
AD
Fill in a 2 and 3 and we have ourself a good closing/small lineup

I like the idea of trading into the draft but I think your looking at the wrong target.
We go after the Kings pick at 6 and offer Ryno + next year 1st and we draft (in this order)
Winslow
Stanley Johnson
WCS
Winslow and Johnson both look like the next big lock down defenders in the leage and Winslow just has a better offensive game than Johnson at the moment.
WCS would be a perfect partner next to AD and would allow us to remain big and still switch the 1-5.
Or we go after the Pistons 8th pick and try and just trade Ryno +this years second for it. And then go after any of those guys left. If none are left I think Hollis Jefferson and Henzonja are worth a look as well.

Seems like we could make a move with GSW that could make both teams better.
They seem like the kind of team that would like Ryan Anderson to play the 5 with Green at the 4.
I would love to get Ezeli from them, but if they don't keep Speights, can't see them letting him go in a trade.
They would have to be interested in a Anderson/Pondexter for Igoudala/Ezeli. That doesn't help our cap at all though, but is probably the most attractive to GSW. Iggy doesn't do much for them but play a role, and he's a $12 million dollar role player for them. He could be much better utilized with us.
Or maybe Anderson/Pondexter (11.6 million) 2016 first for Barnes/Ezeli (4.1 million), don't resign Asik, which would give us roughly 12 million in cap space, i think, if that trade is even legal. Seems unlikely GSW could do that with their cap, but i'm not cap expert.

They have him on a cheap team option next year, they'll keep him.

Not legal. We can take back 150% plus $100k in a trade, so if they're only sending $4.1 to us we can only send $6.25 to them.

How does it work when there is draft picks as part of the deal?
How did we take on Jrue and only give up picks?
Also,
Anderson/Pondexter for Barnes/Speights/Rush works
I didn't realize the team had the option, thought SPeights did.

Has anyone heard if Spencer Hawes is going to be traded? I know the Clippers regret signing him and he was out of the rotation. But he is a 7 footer with range, that has played well before. Plus he isn't that expensive (6m?). If they resign Ajinca and pick up Hawes in a dump, that could be a decent Center rotation. This would especially work if they move Anderson. Since Hawes is a 3pt shooter..

I'm sure they are really going to try.

First, I need to amend what I said, I was thinking from our perspective, but in this situation GS is taking on more salary not us, and since they are over the tax they can only take back 125%, not 150%.
Draft picks do not effect the salary portion of trades. You can trade pick for pick if you want with no salaries involved, but if players are involved you still have to have a legal salary swap.

We had cap space at the time so there was no requirement for us to send salary out.
