Picking one or the other actually says a lot about his state of mind.

I think all it says if he chooses the Pelicans is that Miami decided not to offer the full $3.2 million taxpayer MLE they were capable of offering. Everyone else on the list was either limited to minimum offers or they're the Kings. I don't think ATL was ever officially on the list, they just got suckered into going to the timeshare presentation for the "free" cruise offer.

The Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings have all used their cap space but have their REs available.

This is what we figured on our own, but Eric Pinus of HoopsWorld confirming that the cap room MLE is what we have left to offer Oden.

The question with Greg Oden is whether the Heat are willing to match the Pelicans' mid-level-type offer or offer years.

The fact that we have been able to compete with teams like the Spurs and Heat for a FA really shows how far we have come.

It shows that we can offer more than others and that we're not the Kings.

Not being the Kings is an improvement though. Remember back to the tear down year when Beli resigning was the first "not negative" news we got that offseason.

I just don't know if he will turn down a ring with Miami. As a player with possibly limited years in NBA it would be hard to turn down best shot at a ring. Hope he comes to NOLA!

If he is chasing a ring he will go to the heat. If he wants to start his career over and not have any pressure the Pelicans are a perfect fit.

Will this be a one year deal? That would be so shitty. Better be two years with a team option.
