Nola.com talks to Gordon about trade speculation

Gordon on Speculation

There are also some comments at the bottom about the wrist:

quote:

Gordon said his sprained right hand, injured in a shoot-around collision with a teammate's elbow last Wednesday, was still sore, but he expected to play Tuesday night against the Chicago Bulls at New Orleans Arena.

"It was a little freak accident; I'll be fine and I' looking forward to tomorrow," Gordon said. "It felt fine (Monday). This was the first time I shot. This break (allowed) two-a-day treatments, really get it going so I could get it back."

Williams said Gordon was not at all limited in Monday evening's two-hour workout. "He practiced full today," Williams said Monday, "so I suspect he'll be ready to play (Tuesday)."

re: Nola.com talks to Gordon about trade speculation
quote:

"I'm not really worried about it," Gordon said. "I've just got to go out and play my game and look forward to this week. Whatever happens, happens. It's happened to be (sic) before where I was traded. Business is business. I really don't worry about that. I'm just focused on this team."

"For any player that goes from team to team, whatever the situation is, it's all about playing basketball. And it's good to represent whatever organization you're in. I'm here. And I look forward to being here. That's that. Our team is building as one. And we'll see what goes on from here."

That's actually one of the better answers he's given about playing in NOLA. Hope his tune is changing, but I won't hold my breath.

re: Nola.com talks to Gordon about trade speculation
my favorite part...

quote:

"I always tell our guys if they have a question, they can always come to me and I'll tell them what I know," Williams said. "If I can't tell them, I'll tell them that. I don't like to play games when it comes to trades. They change not only your life but your family's life. Dell and I talk a little bit but I don't spend a lot of time going over it because I'm always thinking about the guys I have right now. That's the team we have and that's who I have to work with and try to get better.

quote:

"I just think guys like playing here," Williams said, "so they don't even want to bring it up, I imagine. Nobody's asked. I'm sure when they see all those reports, it could mess with you a little bit. But if they want to know, they can come ask me and I'll tell them."

That's the thing. It's not about Nola. The Clippers lied straight to the face of a young guy, then threw him a curveball that uprooted his life and left him reeling. He was left distrusting and it unfortunately happened here. He was defensive from that point forward and made the ill-conceived Phoenix statements, but I think time is going to be the best medicine on this one.

However, if we let it be known that we are actively dangling him, the relationship is as good as ruined.

Good points Jester.

I really do think that Gordon will be here for quite some time. I don't hold anything against the guy, he's so young man and still learning and growing as a person.

Here's to a huge game tonight

I'm not so sure, I think all the "listening to offers" smoke is a bit telling. After the fact I remember reading that the Hornets refused to even return calls with teams like Phoenix and Houston about Gordon, now they are listening to offers? If you are going to move him, moving him in the next 6 months will probably net the biggest return because he has enough time left on his contract for bad teams like Charlotte to take a risk on him.

Yep. This is exactly why I cringed when the news came out that we were listening to offers.

From Marc Spears at Yahoo

quote:

New Orleans24. New Orleans Hornets (19-34, previous ranking: 25th): The Hornets are expected to keep guard Eric Gordon through the trade deadline and explore potential deals for him during the off-season, a source told Yahoo! Sports.

The front office knows what they're doing then

Let him go out there and play the rest of the year, not strain his vagina too hard for at least the next month, hopefully start putting some 30/5/5 kind of games up occasionally, and then trade him for someone who isn't a total pussy after the season

I like it

Trade him to teams that are desperate after just striking out in Free Agency.

I really want a player back in return who is still on his rookie contract: Waiters, Leonard, McLemore, etc...

Unfortunately, any picks received would be another year away, at least. We would need to deal with someone under the cap so we don't end up having to take back shite to make it work financially.
