Has an NBA team ever won a title without having one of the best 20 players in the league? I can't think of one.

I thought that as well. I can't recall a winner without a top 10 player on it.

2004 Pistons

And probably 2014 Spurs

So basically, if you want to win a title without a top 10 player, all you have to do is either have an all time elite defense, or 4 future HOFers...no big deal.

Pretty sad that we’re on pace to have one of our best seasons ever and all you see is the same negative posters complaining that we’re not good enough.

For all the negative posters, when you hook up with a lady friend (or guy, it doesn’t matter) do you complain that she wasn’t as pretty as the hottest girl you’ve ever seen? That’s what some of you sound like. Try to enjoy the ride a little bit, it could be much worse.

Ben Wallace was 7th in MVP voting, but your point is valid. He really wasn't a top 10 player. Tim Duncan was probably just outside the top 10 in that late stage of his career.

Agreed

Yea. It was a weird crossover year where Duncan wasn't good enough to be considered legit top 10 as he was old but Kawhi also wasn't top 10 as he was younger. Basically, the Spurs weren't supposed to win that year, but they did it any way. But yea, they had 4 future Hall of Famers, so if any team was going to do it without a top 10 player, that team would be on the shortlist.

I sometimes wonder what Zion would be if he landed somewhere like Miami.

exactly , we are 7-1 since February 2nd which includes a 2-1 west coast trip and a win against the number 1 team in the west ( Clippers)

They sure as shite wouldn't be in limbo right now wondering how good he can be.

They take no bullshite, and I truly believe a dude like Haslem isn't putting up with the stuff the team has the past few seasons.

Basically, he'd be an in shape top 10 player right now or they would have broke him, no in betweens.

That was the year we were introduced to Kawhi.

Zion is very obviously putting in the work since IST. Y’all expect it to happen overnight? Dudes trending up and looking closer to himself than any point in this season.

I don’t get the pessimism. Give the dude time to evolve this shite. He’s finally getting the ball. He’s finally rounding into physical shape. What’s the problem again?

Sorry if having one of the best seasons of a shite franchise doesn't really thrill me. It's win it all or bust or at least contend. We're not really doing either.

The biggest difference between the Pistons and Spurs teams and us is toughness and intelligence.

Those were smart, gritty teams.

We're soft and fricking stupid.

Can you imagine if Butler and Haslem were on this team. BI and Zion would have gotten their asses kicked by now.

I hate to break the news to yall but almost no one wins a title when their star is 23.

You win titles when your best player is in his prime.

MJ 28
LBJ 27
Shaq 27

Some of you troll folk will say Kobe, Duncan, and Magic. I ll save you the trouble, they were not the best players on those teams.

Larry Bird was 25. And Magic was very close to being the best player on the Lakers .

Zion is 23. Based on all the player that were named he has 2-4 more years to get to that level.
