The plan was to rest him, not give him another surgery. Honestly I'd be happy if they decided to do another surgery. Get it right and kill any hope of him coming back this season so he focuses on healing his foot.
Also keep in mind that tomorrow is when a bunch of players become trade eligible. So the timing suggests a trade rumor as the most likely news.

i also thought surgery was part of the news a week or so ago, something about helping the blood flow issue to area or whatever the hell they were talking about. Didn't durant have another surgery to help the healing?

Durant ended up having 3 surgeries. The 3rd one being a bone graft. Andrew Lopez said on Zach Lowe's podcast that the plan is to go back to resting/healing and he'd get imaging again in 3-4 weeks.
