It's pretty obvious that ESPN panders to the big markets first and national audience second. It's the playoffs. Neither of those groups want to hear about the Hornets at least until the lottery.
I was reading a HoopsWorld chat yesterday and some idiot actually complained that they covered the Raptors. Steve Kyler's response was pretty much "sorry for covering every team like a good NBA news site should".

they didn't get into piston questions with lawrence frank either. their whole purpose on being on the show at this time is to discuss the nba playoffs. w

and i'm willing to bet Monty agreed to the interview knowing they wouldn't ask him anything dealing with the Hornets. it's not that big of a deal. they can have him back on around draft time to hear his thoughts.
