TY

On injuries: Every other sentence as an excuse.

On people criticizing rotations: "That part doesn't bother me because I know what I'm dealing with."

On finishing 5: "Too small to a sample size to evaluate." Didn't play D but caused a ton of trouble on the other end. "Lost to some teams they shouldn't have." Singled out 135pt game vs. Philly as a positive.

On BRob: "Played better than anyone expected."

On Morrow: "Once he got the minutes, he proved he was a player."

On defense post Jrue: "So many blocked shots because we had so many blow-bys."

On Tyreke: "Needs to develop 15-18 footer."

On AD: "We're playing through AD." FINALLY something that doesn't make me bang my head against my desk at work.

On Demps: "We argue. That's part of being men and growing together." "Healthy disagreements." "Doesn't always agree with the acquisitions." "Times when our disagreements lead to the answer." "They have to let each other do their own job."

On Loomis: "He's a great sounding board to make him and Dell better."

On Tyreke starting: "His numbers as a starter are nothing to sneeze at. That's something we are going to have to consider going forward. We are going to sit down with Tyreke." "It clicks for him when he starts." "Something about his name being called. He doesn't understand the mentality about starting = better production." WTF!??! Jesus Monty. Maybe playing 35 instead of 25 minutes made a difference. Maybe playing with AD more made a difference. MY GOD

Is he tendering his resignation? Is he announcing that they're bringing in G.Karl? If it's not Benson calling the presser, I'm bracing for disappointing news...

Monty isn't getting fired.

Unfortunately.

We'll wait until 20 games in next year to fire him.

I jumped in way late but I heard him talk about Reke starting vs coming off the bench and from the way he made it sound, it at least seems like he is considering letting Reke start next year bc of his production

Also I heard him basically say Reke will play either PG or SG and AD is going to play PF

Did he talk at all about the Center position?

we dominated Philly both games. Didn't we beat them by 40 here?

I can see this exact scenario playing out. And by then, Gordon will already be sidelined and they'll be at least 1 other major injury problem. But oh well. There's always next-NEXT year...

Aside from saying AD won't play center extensively, not really. One reporter asked about the glaring needs at SF and C, and Monty mostly addressed the hole at the 3. Seems like that's their #1 priority for this offseason.

Yeah, he needs a 2 way player pretty much sums it up.

I went into this hoping that he'd say some crap that would make me dislike him less, and sadly I was disappointed. He basically bitched about injuries, Dell, and inexperience. Took very little responsibility for anything this year.

I think you're forgetting about the injuries that are sure to happen. More loses and more excuses.

If the Bucks sold for $550M, you have guess the Pelicans are worth almost as much. That means Benson has already made $220M on his one year investment. He needs to spend some damn money and get a real coach and GM in here.

Que: enter all the Monty lovers.

Huh? He isn't cheap skating by any stretch of the imagination. We don't have cap space and are using exceptions cause we're over the cap. You want him to go deep into the luxury tax? That's unrealistic.

When did the league start putting Coaches and GMs salaries in the cap?

Never.

He said he wants a 2 way center than can handle Al Jefferson without needing help and has enough offensive skill to get AD single coverage from the PF. He made a similar 2 way player statement about the SF position, but he also knows it's hard to get 2 way players. Make no mistake defense is still his priority. It sounds like on paper he'd take an Aminu over a Morrow (the Morrow we signed, not the Morrow who ended the season as "one of our best help defenders").

Another interesting point is when someone asked him about job security and if he felt the team had confidence in him he said that's not the type of conversation they normally have, but he did say that Loomis is who he talks to about things like that. In other words Dell won't be firing Monty if it comes to that.

Monty gave AD and Jrue a list of players at their position he thought were better than them and they got pissed. Monty's not a bad motivator, I just wish he would find his Tex Winter.
