But right now it is unfair to judge this season as of now

4th season

all of them have been "can't judge him" seasons

at some point, its a real trend

Monty will get the full year unless we lose 10-15 in a row

It would be stupid to fire him before the end of the season now because we aren't going to get a real replacement for the future almost 20 games into the season. I don't think Monty is the guy for the job but let him finish the season and then get a guy like Karl or even Stan Van Gundy to come in fresh next year. At this point I am just hoping Dell doesn't frick us in a trade to help save his and Monty's job.

Virtually 100% unless they really take a nosedive and the record is bad enough to keep one of the protected picks in the next draft.

If both of the above happened a couple of the posters on this board would be bursting at the seams with joy.

The point is a non-playoff season is an automatic fire IMO. But if you fire him now and hire Karl, you will be saying fire Karl when we lose five in a row. Let him finish the season and based on those results make a move if needed. Bringing in coaches mid year is just a set up for an epic fail. And is Karl really interested in the job or is that just wishful thinking?

He's said enough things about how much he likes the Pelicans when he hasn't been prompted that I think he has genuine interest in the roster. Money could be an issue, because in his most recent interview where he brought up the Pelicans out of the blue he also said you couldn't pay him "a million dollars" to coach in New York. Maybe I'm reading too much into that since it's a commonly used phrase, but coaches usually get paid much more than $1 million, so for $5+ million would he put up with the circus in New York? It just seemed like that could have been a "throw lots of money at me New York" statement as much as a "don't bother calling me New York" statement.
