quote:

Anthony Davis is the big winner in this move, as not only will he not suffer the exorbitant minutes he would under Tom Thibodeau, and Gentry will maximize Davis' potential on both ends. Seeing as how keeping and securing the long-term future of Davis in New Orleans should be priority a through z, acquiring a coach well-suited to maximize his talents makes this a win on its own. Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans should benefit from a more wide-open system as well.

All-in-all, it's a home run hire for the Pelicans, to mix metaphors. It gets them someone highly respected, with playoff success, who can play fast, and will help develop Anthony Davis without driving him into the ground. Tom Thibodeau may have been a bigger name, but this hire was the best the Pelicans could make.

Surprise, surprise. People who actually know a thing or two about basketball actually like the hire.

Has the potential to work well, but still doesn't address the glaring issue on defense. Bring in a top notch defensive assistant like Adams, Malone, or Shaw and we should be fine. We'll see how the staff pans out.
