Article from Brett Dawson of the Advocate.

quote:

That created an opportunity for Galloway, who grew up rooting for Chris Paul, David West and the Hornets and who called playing in New Orleans "a dream come true," but not something he planned.

LINK

Also, Galloway's wife Sabrina was only living in New York part time because she's a political consultant here in Louisiana.

quote:

The Loyola graduate will return to the school this fall to begin pursuit of her MBA. At the same time, she'll work as a consultant for a pair of political campaigns, Rani Whitfield's for a Metro Council District 3 seat in Baton Rouge and Terance Irvin's for mayor of Gonzales.

There's a lot more at the article, but I want to talk about 2 things.

1) Did we sign Moore to flip him later? He and Galloway seem a bit redundant, especially with drafting Buddy. Keeping both Moore and Galloway after this year seems unlikely because of cap issues. Galloway just seems like he'd give you similar production but is already cheaper and has a good bit of motivation to take a hometown discount.

2) Can we get Galloway to post here? We almost got Squeaky that time. People with twitter start doing work.

I'll see if I can snoop around the political scene and make contact here in BR. I know someone that went to school with him.

We did get Galloway at a cheap price to be a 4th or 5th guard option. Shouldn't have any effect on whether Moore and him can coexist together imo.

Moore was signed before Galloway was available. I think he was restricted and the Knicks later rescinded their QO.

Here's a nice profile of Galloway and how he's trying to help with the Flood.

quote:

While Galloway doesn’t know anyone who died or was injured from the flooding, what “hit home” for him was seeing his wife’s family lose their home they had for almost 30 years.

...The 24-year-old’s help started when he connected with Keila Stovall, the executive director of the Foundation for the East Baton Rouge School System. She told him that out of the roughly 15 schools that were impacted by the flooding, most were in the East Baton Rouge Parish. That included his alma mater, Christian Life Academy.

...Through Galloway’s leadership, teaming up with fellow Baton Rouge natives and NBA players Garrett Temple and Marcus Thornton, he recently facilitated a major donation with the support of the NBPA Foundation and NBA. The contribution will help cover the missing items, as well as help organize and deploy volunteer teams to clean up the affected schools.
