Why would you have JV guarding the rim on the last play of regulation. Can not jump nor move fast enough without fouling. Just fricking stupid….. No sense of urgency after regulation. Turnovers turnovers turnovers

I won’t argue if it was stupid. I will find fault that the ref that called a foul on JV when he has inside position on the other player and is going for a 50/50 ball with .4 on the clock. Give me a frickin break…

The Pels are the only NBA team that the refs call that a foul on in that situation I remember they did the exact same call for Gobert when we was playing the Jazz

Stop accepting blame for straight up bull shite from NBA refs. What is wrong with y’all?

If that happened to a big market team the league would be roasted all day tomorrow for it on every sports show. It may even make some non-sports shows.

Only way a ref makes that call is if they decide beforehand they want to…

Why? No clue. But that ref was looking for anything close he could whistle.

I assume the ref that made the stupid call on the last play also missed Bane stepping out of bounds and Smart swinging an elbow across Herb’s face.

Also, on the ensuing tip, the ref absolutely blew the whistle and gave them a timeout before they secured the ball. The refs did more for them in the final minute than I have ever seen. It was infuriating to watch up close.

Is point .4 time enough to get a shot off. If not I would put one guarding the inbound and four bugs around rim guarding against the lob

I mean I don’t think it would have mattered who was there - in no universe should a team get bailed out with a foul for lobbing the ball from the sideline with .4 seconds.

JV should have been on the inbound and Trey under the basket

Anybody else ever compare the defensive ability of each of the Pels starting/closing 5...with the defensive ability of each of the players on the top serious contenders in the NBA?

For me, those top contenders include:
Celtics,Bucks,76ers & Miami from East
Nuggets,Suns,Wolves & Clippers from West

I think we can definitely hold our own defensively...player vs player...with those 8 teams.

Unfortunately the Pelicans aren't going far in the playoffs when we have 4 poor defenders in the starting lineup. No matter how good they look in the regular season, they'll end up getting exploited come playoffs time. I just don't see how we work around the defensive deficiency when the rotation is shortened and teams actually hunt for matchups.

We'll be lucky to get a good favorable matchup and get past the first round. OKC and Minnesota exploited us last year in the play in.

Seriously...we are amazingly bad defensively. Our best hope is to just "confuse" the other team...by having so many players that are easy defensive "targets"...that the opposing team can't decide which one to go after.

This is why I think Daniels' development on the offensive end...is so very important to the Pels future. We gotta find some way to get that guy on the court, assuming we actually want to compete with the big boys.

I don’t know about Pels being the only team, but it was a shitty call.
