If the Lakers win a championship, I promise you Jaxson Hayes won’t have anything to do with it

Truth is Jax was not as trash as y’all made him out to be. He wasn’t a finished product and Willie lost faith in him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the minutes he needs in LA and help that team

The truth is Jaxson showed pretty much no improvement in his time here. He doesn’t need minutes, he needs drive and ambition to work on his game instead of coasting on his physical abilities.

I have held onto hope for Jaxson longer than anyone but signing with the Lakers is one bridge too fricking far. Dead to me

Don’t be surprised if he finds a solid place on that team.

predict that Jaxson will get crazy hype from Lakers fans
Already happening on Twitter

The vast majority of Lakers fans commenting on the tweet of his signing are rejoicing that they run the league, and Jax will start and they finally got their guy that can rim protect and rebound at the 5.

He doesn't give a shite about defense and by several accounts put in minimal effort with the team. I'm good on dudes like that.

Disappointed in the kid. The Lakers aren't the team to go to when you need minutes to develop. He's going to be firmly planted behind Davis, Hachimura, and Vanderbilt.

This doesn't even include minutes where Bron or when they go small with a shooter like Prince.

He's basically going there to play the Wenyan Gabriel role.

Garland fell into our lap.. pretty hard to process. 2 is not always better than 1

I am not arguing it was the right move by Griff, but the trade had a ton more involved than just those three players.

Griff used it to clear cap space as they were kind of stuck with some bad contracts also. It allowed him to bring in some other contributors. Also Garland was a huge unknown. He was basically just a highschool prospect as he did not play in college.

If Hayes would have turned into the next Myles Turner out of Texas then he would have looked like a genius. They definitely picked him for poaition instead of BPA.

It was also done to shed Solomon Hill massive salary but people have selective memory per usual.

If the Pels, who know him the best, didn't even feel like extending a QO, that should tell you all you need to know. We don't have a plethora of bigs, and we still didn't want to keep Jaxson

I still think he has some potential if he devotes himself to improving. He does not seem to care. However, the Lakers probably got him for the minimum whereas he would have cost us nearly $8 million. Worth the risk. I would have taken him back at the minimum in a second.

This is not false, but the reason that Willie lost faith in him was his poor attitude and work ethic. I also feel 100% certain that he was ... unreceptive to coaching.

Jaxson still has great potential to develop into a solid NBA player, but it wasn't going to happen in New Orleans. Scouting is about attitude and drive and focus as much as it is about basketball skill and potential, and this was a scouting failure.

To use on JJ. However, we should have been building for the future and not trying to build too quickly by adding JJ. Griff was impatient and should have accumulated young assets rather than paying to get off of Solomon to get JJ.

I’ll never forgive Griff for that. Trading down that high in the draft is just idiotic.

Most on here didn’t really want Garland. He was the swing for the fences pick. Hunter was a safe double. He passed on both to totally strike out not once but twice.

Wrong. Dude was an expiring contract at that point. Could have been moved easily for not much at all.
