Right now, you can tell he really hasnt figured out his role in the NBA. But if Gentry plays him more Buddy will get more and more comfortable out there.

Probably won't happen until Gentry is gone.

It took JJ Reddick 4-5 years before he found his way.

Who's to say? I just dont see how any objective person could see the product and progess so far and have this expectation. He isn't just missing shots, he looks lost. Obviously, as a fan of the pels I hope the best but so far hes been bad. The one positive is that he seems to still have all the confidence it takes to succeed. He's a vocal leader and hasn't been shy of the moment.

It's not that he misses that concerns me, it's how bad. I don't think I can ever recall a shooter airball so many open looks

I love member berries.

but I hate what you are trying to infer. I knew Austin Rivers was a long shot of being good. Jimmer Fredette was never as good as Buddy. And James Posey is just a weird example. And also a bad one.

Henderson, the only thing I member is your bad berries.

I was responding to 31 saying he never remembered a shooter miss so many shots so badly. I don't think Buddy is like those guys

My bad. That's what happens when I drink a bottle of wine and skip to the bottom of the thread without seeing who you were responding too.

Well I'm with Henderson here, LSU31.

People forget that it takes young NBA players some time to develop. You can tell by tonight that he has what it takes, but he just needs to get it going. And he will. Gentry needs to play him more honestly.

I just don't see it. He's one of the few players who's moving without the ball constantly to get open. His dribble drive game is probably better than half our guards, whether it's finishing at the rim or kicking out (not shooting floaters or using dribbles to pull up into midrange jumpers). He's actually shooting 49% from 2.

His defense is bad. He plays off his man to gang rebound too often which results in wide open 3s if they don't take the shot. He gets beat and picked on a lot. Few rookies come into the NBA adjusting to that speed quickly though.

For all the crowing about Murray, their FG% is near identical and his defense is even worse. And Murray sees a bare minimum of 15 mins a game.

I'm just hoping last night can carry over for him some.

At one point last week, Buddy ranked last in 3 pt FG% of all players that attempted over 50. Murray was 16th.

A 23 year old senior isn't supposed to have this type of learning curve. Elite shooting plays at any level.

Which is why most people who aren't already pre-disposed to finding negatives due to pre-season predictions about Buddy's looming failure are not that worried about his early season slump.

His mechanics are great, his form solid, he is a great FT shooter. All indicators that the shooting foundation is rock solid.

His shot selection was not great early on and he seemed to have some confidence issues, plus Gentry admitted to piling too many responsibilities onto him too quickly. Plus, like a lot of scorers, he seems to be rhythm based. I can't count how many times Buddy went 0-4 or 1-6 at Oklahoma then ended the game 10-19 or something.

How bad would Ryno or Gordon have looked as shooters if we treated them like we have Buddy? Miss your first 2-3 shots and you are done for the night. Ryno would of only been playing large minutes once, twice a week and his percentages would tank.
