How thin is the ice that Demps and Gentry are standing on?

I do not mean to have this super negative thread starting the season. I really hope we start off great and the season goes well we don't even need to worry about this.

But...it has to be super thin right?

Demps is going into his umpteenth year as the GM with very minimal success. Gentry is in his 3rd year as HC and hasn't made the playoffs either of his first 2 years.

Even with the Benson ownership situation, one would have to expect that IF it doesn't go well, both are fired during the season and Demps isn't allowed to make any more moves, right?

Its just something I was thinking about. Again, not trying to be negative here.

I think even if we miss playoffs this year, Demps could stick around if we still sign Cousins.

Gentry will have to make the playoffs to keep his job tho.

If the Saints return to the playoffs when will Loomis have time to care?

I really think AD/DC/Jrue is enough talent to be .500ish at worst to start the season because so many of the teams they are going up against are not good.

@ Memphis Grizzlies
Golden State Warriors
@ Los Angeles Lakers
@ Portland Trail Blazers
@ Sacramento Kings
Cleveland Cavaliers
Orlando Magic
Minnesota Timberwolves
@ Dallas Mavericks
@ Chicago Bulls
@ Indiana Pacers
@ Toronto Raptors

It would take a serious injury to one of AD/DC/Jrue for them to not be at least 5-7 after the first 12. Honestly 5-7 is a bad start because the schedule toughens after this, but it's solid progress compared to the last 2 years. I personally think a healthy* Pels team should come out of this stretch at 7-5 or 8-4.

Let's say they start like 2-11, awful start like the past two years.

If they start that bad for the 3rd year in a row especially when they have no excuse to start that bad, I don't see how you don't make a change.

I just don't see how they start that bad if healthy though. Unless the other team is unbelievably hot from 3 like that Bulls preseason game, they should beat the Lakers, Kings, Mavs, Bulls and Pacers. Those just seem like gimmes. I also like them against the Magic and Minnesota early in the season and at home in NOLA. If they lose one of those 7 they'll probably win one they shouldn't like catching the Cavs early down a starter in NOLA. Memphis is a toss up. I think it's a lot more likely they go 8-4 than 2-10 and probably something between 5-7 and 7-5 is the most realistic range.
