I love Gentry, he’s a great guy, and they’re a great family. Is this one of those “wait and see” scenarios? God knows he never had the team that he wanted, and maybe now he has it.

How confident are you in Alvin Gentry?

I like Alvin but no I don't have faith he is the guy. I hope I am wrong but I don't see it.

Agreed. It’s okay to root for him but not think he is the guy. His track record is not very inspiring.

Everyone always talks about how Gentry goes with his Vets even if it's detrimental to the team. But maybe like the Pelicans he has seen the error in his ways. The first glimps of that for me is who will the first guard to come in off the bench after JJ.

I remember reading a story about Griff sitting in on film sessions for the Cavs before he made up his mind on firing David Blatt... Despite them being close I think Griff will def keep a close eye on him...

Either way I see him as a transitional place holder coach.

I think this year will be very telling, before he didn’t have depth, and IMO you can make the case for giving him a pass with his questionable rotations down the stretch of games. This year he has depth and we can get creative with who is on the court matchup wise.

I guess that depends on how confident you are in David Griffin.

He obviously had enough confidence in AG to not replace him, and it's pretty obvious Griffin's not afraid to shake things up if he feels the need for change.

And if you're questioning confidence you might as well throw in Gayle to that conversation also. Doesn't the buck stop with her?

I have full confidence that this team is heading the right direction and the changes that need to be made will be made if/when the time comes.

I’m confident in his system. I’m not sure about his rotations just yet. He needs to figure out how to use our depth as an advantage. To be fair, It’s a tough thing to do. But It’ll be a crime if he reduce the rotation to 9-10 and take away our advantage in our depth by keeping quality players on the bench and limiting their minutes. At the pace they want to play at, it’s absolutely imperative that we keep the pace and keep our guys fresh.

Alvin is the guy for now. He has Griff’s support, and he’s well-respected around the league.
I’m fine with him until I’m proven wrong. He’s had a weird fluctuating roster to deal with the entire time he’s been here. I know some have questioned his rotations, but I assume a coach has his reasons, and it’s his arse that’s on the line.

Gentry will be fine, if they were going to replace him it would been doing the off season when all the the transition was taken place.
