Comedian and comedy theater founder Chris Trew is a New Orleans Pelicans superfan who has a single season ticket directly behind the visitors’ bench inside New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center, where he interacts with the opposing team’s players and coaches. He will be documenting his experiences here for us in a regular column called, Behind the Bench.

This one is the Grizzlies game

— I’ve never seen a player eat as much during a game as Zach Randolph. He was chewing on a chocolate protein bar in the second quarter and when I offered up a new nickname (“Snack Randolph”) he turned to me and accepted it happily. Snack was actively engaging with fans throughout the night, placing him at the very top of my Nice Guy rankings.

I'm still shocked at Zach Randolph's speaking voice. Shattered my entire worldview.

At one point, Noah Vonleh asked Chris Kaman to pass him some lotion. Kaman then did a jerk-off motion in response before handing over the lotion. I’m not sure if this is tradition for Kaman to do when someone asks for the lotion, or if Chris Kaman was just really, really horny at the time and needed to express himself.

Also, you haven’t truly lived until you’ve seen Chris Kaman make a jerk-off hand motion.
