This is a joke , you can't even watch this team play. The reason his offense worked so good in golden state is because of Stephen curry. No defense, no ball sharing. His rotations are horrible. Monty won with all our backups starting at one point last year so these few injuries or no excuse. The team is constantly unfocused and unreactive to Gentry.

Let's make AD shoot threes when he was fricking money from the elbow. Did gentry not watch any film from last year and see what worked.

Non the less this dude looks loaded half the time on the sideline. Pretty much any other coach could have came in and accidently did a better job than this POS.

He was never a good coach why would he all of a sudden be. Did he just wake up and have infused knowledge and become phil Jackson.

Don't disagree, but improvement only happens if Demps is fired, too. Letting Demps select another coach will not make a damn difference.

I was vehemently against hiring this bum.

But we are stuck with him for 3 years. Get used to it.

The only thing you can do is give it more time UNLESS Benson is prepared to eat Gentry's 4 year deal and bring in someone like Van Gundy or Thibs now.

If some miracle happens and QPon coming back is enough added BB IQ, shooting and leadership to put this team back on track then I guess the answer is to start changing out some of the non QPons for more QPons. If that doesn't happen, which seems pretty unlikely at this point, I'm not sure what you do. Demps will have failed in about the worst way possible, he thought he built a roster suited to Gentry when he actually built one suited to Monty. So he clearly would need to be fired, but firing Demps still leaves you with a coach that just signed a 4 year deal which puts you potentially in the exact same mismatched coach and GM problem we just went through with Monty and Demps.

I think what really needs to happen first is Loomis needs to fire himself from the Pelicans, hire a basketball guy to be VP of operations and hire the next GM and decide what to do with the coach (although Benson holding the purse strings might be the one making that decision).

Yep. Loomis has had his share of mis-steps with the Saints, but he's a pretty smart guy. The smartest move would be for Loomis to bring in a real basketball guy and put him in charge of the whole operation.

We keep saying "wait till X comes back" and at this point it's only down to Q. If that dude comes back and the Pels make the playoffs, he's league MVP.

Not really, he'd just be the piece that puts you over the top. He gives you what Gee gives you on defense and what Gordon's been giving you on offense. Adding a smart 2 way player changes spacing and can make marginal guys more effective. I don't think it will be season changing either though.

Monty sucked.
Demps sucks.
Loomis will suck.
Gentry is dumber than Monty.

I can not even wrap my head around what a failure this year is. Injuries I get at the beginning but my God...we aren't even fun to watch. I'm ready to clean sweep before Demps trades another 1st rder for a "young vet". Get Anderson out of here with Asik's contract (preferred option). Hell, Option 2, we may have to eat top 3 protecting our first to undo Demps dumbass Asik deal. I don't see another asset on the team able to undo that colossal frick up. Let's see if Erman is the savant he was touted to be now as 24 games in it's already apparent we fricked up bigtime in the Gentry hire. What a cluster. This just sucks.

Before we blow it up we need to pick a direction though. For instance, if you were to bring in JVG or Thibs, would they want Asik and actually be able to make him useful? I hope they got detailed info on what JVG wanted to do with the roster when they interviewed him. Because going the "better Monty" route many of us wanted to go is a different set of roster moves than Gentry/Dantoni and the modern NBA offense focus.

Yeah, I thought hiring a coach who has failed multiple times before as a head coach was questionable, but I could not have imagined it would be this bad.

Yeah, injuries are a part of the team with the players they have. They just stocked the roster with players who are habitually injured. We one 45 with pretty much the same deck of cards and plenty of lost time injuries to key players last year. The fall-off is to dramatic to say coaching has little to do with it.

Maybe he's a good assistant coach, but head coach...he's proven time and again he's not.

That's not going to happen, so we just have to sit back this year, accept the losses (and their will be a lot!) and hope we get a high lotto pick next year. We have a talent like Davis, but I think most of team doesn't mesh with him or have a team concept- just a bunch of individuals on the court.

Monty was certainly not the guy for the job and basically a bottom 5 type coach, but it appears we have replaced him with a bottom 3 coach.

This wasn't the case last night

Hopefully this is the start of a buying in process
