This just seems like they're making sure it's not anything long term

Can't wait to see the nola.com tards think we should blow it up.

We're going to strong arm NYK into trading for him so melo won't leave

Calling it now

I will never understand the NBA's injury policy especially when it comes to contracts. I don't get why guys gets full value when they don't play or why the teams don't get a break when they don't. There should be some kind of stipulation to where they only gets 50-60% of the normal rate when they are out injured. Or give the team some kind of break, like a cap bump for the next season. At this point, I would think they could review a contract, like Gordon's, and offer an injury settlement. Especially when a guy is either always getting injured or his skills have diminished to where he'll never give you full value.

Who would we get out of that deal? Chandler?

I wouldn't mind that

It solves the center problem

A team of:

Jrue
Tyreke
3+D SF
AD
Chandler

Would be quite good and we'd have money to play with in 15 when chandler goes off the books.

It makes sense to me at least but i'm just making a prediction.

It's cool. I don't know why the Knicks would it though. They already loaded at SG with JR Smith, Hardaway and Shumpert. They don't have any other decent Center on the roster, unless they move Stoudemire or Bargnani there. Which they might have in mind, since Mello plays PF really well..

Yeah they could easily put melo at PF and start JR/Shumpert at SF while EG would start at SG

They like(and are built) to play small anyway.

Hardaway would be a solid sixth man. Stoudmire/Bargs would be quite servicable at C if healthy.

By bringing in EG they would pitch to melo they're adding more talent(and his deal would only be a year more)

A team of:
Felton/???
Gordon/Hardaway
Shumpert/J.R
Melo/Bargani
Amare/Fa center

Would be very competitive with a solid bench.

obviously knowing what we know now no one would've matched his offer but at the time management didn't have much of a choice we almost had to

"Dealer" Dell allegedly didn't even return calls from Phoenix and Houston. I really have to wonder how much encouragement Boss Stern gave in resigning the centerpiece of the trade he took so much heat to make happen.

Loaded with what? The worst attitude guy in the league, a rookie, and another dude who's overrated with a bad knee this early in his career. Don't confuse volume for depth

I hope that never happens. Every time you have a rebel player, the team would come up with a medical exception and the owners and GMs shouldn't have a parachute to save them from asinine decisions, which signing Gordon certainly qualifies. When a damn player goes public and says: "Hey, I don't want to play for you", take the trade and move on.

Demps is a jackass for ever signing Gordon and I am amazed that he still has a job after he pissed away $56M of Benson's money!!!!

I really find that hard to believe, but, if so, it was not a smart thing to do. That said, I do think a newly established front office had to play hardball with its big RFA. Nobody saw the injury issue coming the way it did.
