Isn’t Bojangles coming off an ACL at 33? Still though, he’s a shooter so I wouldn’t be worried about the injury. He’d be a liability on defense though and I’m not sure how Willie would like that.

No, Joe Ingle’s tore his ACL. Bojan is fine.

Bojan can still shoot, but his defense was just horrible last season. He's past his expiration date -- DO NOT WANT.

That’s not true at all on either account. Bojan actually can really get after it. He’s not Herb Jones and I don’t recommend putting him on the other teams best player. But that’s exactly what Utah did at times. Here is an article from their playoff series talking about Bojan guarding Luka and Brunson full court. Don’t mistake me, you get him for his shooting and scoring, but he’s not a defensive liability:

Bojan defense

Bojan scored 18 points a game last season. 39% career three point shooter. If there’s a way to add that to your bench, you absolutely try to do it. And you keep his bird rights, you never know what the future may hold as far as keeping him at a lesser number.

He plays mostly PF and a little SF.

With BI/Herb/Trey/Zion/Nance, whose minutes are you taking away to give Bojan 25+ minutes a night?

Look, I’m passed the days or pretending our entire team is going to be healthy. I want to add as many good players as possible. But as far as a full squad rotation, my main bench guys are Jose, Bojan, Murphy and Nance. I do not expect Dyson to play a ton early, and the more I can keep Jaxson off the court the better. At Bojan age, there is no reason he can’t come in to play a major role off the bench.

The better question is, what happens if Murphy gets injured and misses time now? Or if BI gets hurt and Murphy has to start? Our bench gets real shallow real fast.

I hear you but I don't think that's the better question.

There will likely be times where the SF/PF is all pretty healthy and playing so someone if BI/Herb/Trey/Zion/Nance has to give up 25 minutes for Bojan.

Unless your plan is to bring him in and put him as the 11th dude on the bench getting a bunch of DNPs and small playing time, then we play him when injuries pop up. But if that's the case, then why do we want a guy for that role in that salary range? Otherwise, we have to take his minutes from someone or a couple of dudes who are set in our rotation this season, which I don't want to do.

I’m not sure where this 25 number minimum is coming from, nor 11th guy. Bojan would be one of our top couple guys off the bench. Fully healthy, minutes would be around:

CJ- 34
BI- 34
Herb- 30
Zion- 34
Jonas- 30

Bench:
Jose- 18
Bojan- 20
Murphy- 20
Nance- 20

All of that fluctuates from game to game, and final year numbers trend higher due to injuries. But that’s your 240 total minutes with a 9 man fully healthy lineup.

Doesn't he make $18 mil?

Why would we want that salary for a guy if he's not playing 25 minutes a night?

That's way too much to spend on a guy who'll play only 20 minutes imo.

ETA: also, what about Graham? I doubt Utah would want him and like it or not, I'm assuming he will get minutes especially early in the season.

If we're trading Jax, I'd rather it not be on an expiring

What about Josh Richardson? Seems like he could be helpful to back up BI at the 2, has a contract comparable to Graham’s and I doubt he is a big part of the Spurs rebuilding plans at the moment.
