Call me crazy but I don’t think I would trade BI for AD

Only reason I bring that up is because we are really starting to see just how big we won that trade .

Lakers gave us a ton of assets but yet we might have gotten the best singular piece in the entire deal

nobody would, now
at the time he was 1/2 the player he is now and he had a possible career ending medical issue

I agree with you. Especially since Davis has the toughness of evaporated water

Their career arcs are on totally different trajectories now.

AD is now seen as a fragile (physically and mentally) beta who is not committed to winning and is on the downward trend.

BI is younger and ascending.

I don't think it's even close. Lakers fans are pining for Ingram back.

Before we even get into the talent portion, One is basketball first and not an a-hole. The other is selfish and a complete marble mouthed dickhead. I'm not saying which one is which.

You’re not crazy. You’d be crazy if you think the Lakers don’t wish they had that trade back. It took getting another alpha to take the pressure off but BI has officially announced himself to the league as a superstar. He might have the best midrange game in the nba and his shot is almost unblockable.

I'd take BI over AD at this point. Amazing that we also got:

- the pieces used to trade for CJ and Nance
- Jaxson Hayes
- a top 10 pick this year
- pick swap rights next year
- an unprotected 1st in 2024 or 2025 (our choice)

If the pels win 50+ games next and the Lakers still suck hooo boy. We could legit jump 10+ spots and have another lottery pick or at least a mid 1st.

It's not unrealistic

AD peaked with Pels. He was supposed to develop into a transcendent player, but his injury history and soft mentality stunted his growth. Deferring to LeBron also has really held his game back.

BI is an ascending player who hasn't reached his peak yet. He is the closest thing you can get to KD in the league and is only 24.

We absolutely have the better of the two players today, which is crazy to think about only 3 years after the trade.

AD was ready to win a title in 2020. LeBron was/is old. Can't wait for Ingram to blossom.

Trade worked out for both teams.

Absolutely not. When he played, AD was dominant on the Lakers in 2020 and 2021. Phoenix had no answer for him last year in the playoffs before he got hurt.

Short term, yeah, the Pels basically got the best return they could feasibly get, the Lakers got a chip.

Long term? I guess you individual Lakers fans are gonna have to decide whether one bubble chip is worth another half decade or more of disappointment and underachievement relative to the high expectations you all seem to have. Most probably say yes today, but I wonder if in two years if the Pels are still taking your top 10 picks if that sentiment holds?

i think it is likely that davis will be overpaid for what he provides for the rest of his career. one of the downsides of a max contract is that for superstars, they remain woefully underpaid. unless davis becomes the alpha leader of a consistent championship contender, that will not be the case for him
