honestly, jrue has been quite off putting lately. But at same time, we're in quite the shitty spot to add legit talent and keeping jrue remains one of our slim viable options. Rondo and Jrue appeals to me. Don't know if that leaves us room for this Justin dude.

He really hasn't said or done anything publicly, but I think overpaying him is a bad option.

It is rumored that he doesn't want to play here, but for all we know that's a game his agent has him playing to squeeze more money out of the Pelicans.

That is the concern. Jrue fits what we're looking for in so many ways. If you can keep him at a price that lets you stay flexible long term he's probably the best option by a good margin.

Jrue's agent will go for a max contract and get it somewhere.

I really don't think he will. The Mavs are the main threat to be that aggressive but they just drafted a player they see as their starting PG of the future so why tie up so much money in the Holiday brothers if you're Dallas?

What's the deal with players not wanting to resign here? Ryno, EG, and now Jrue. That's not a good look for the organization if true.

Meh, NO isn't the issue. I'm just hoping the organization is getting the reputation of being a shitty organization that treats its players poorly.

treating players poorly? With all the shite Ryno and Jrue dealt with while here and considering how we handled it as an organization, we should have a reputation of treating our players tremendously. Now, that doesn't mean we aren't seen as poorly run from a basketball standpoint. Which I'm sure we are.

football is completely different. and even so, name someone other than Brees or Colston that has stayed with the Saints for 7+ years recently.

i would argue the nba culture would appeal to the city of new orleans more so than typical football guy. saints lure top free agents all the time.

New Orleans is really shitty compared to other NBA cities. If I was rich, I wouldnt want to live here.

As mentioned in previous threads, "culture" and city are only a part of the equation. It depends on the player but one thing looms above else and that is winning. Winning gets guys here. Look at the Saints. No one wanted to go there until they got Payton who then got Brees and then helped build a winning tradition. The rest of the stuff (weather, schools, culture, crime rate, housing market, outside interests) are all secondary and beyond but also important things to consider.

It's comparing apples to oranges overall but the commonality is that it wasn't until we started winning behind a franchise QB and franchise head coach that we started to attract more talent and cultivate a winning persona to other players.

Until we develop a solid front office culture that knows how to piece together correct talent in the right way we aren't going to attract top guys unless it's via trade or we hit on draft picks. That's just fact.

We are moving in the right direction with AD and Boogie but that can just as easily crumble before our very eyes as much as it can succeed.

Hell, Crewz mentioned on the pod that one of the reasons why Gordon Hayward is being tied to Miami is because of his wife and the opportunities she is seeking.

the celebs don't live here. they have a house here b/c they have business here.

All i'm saying is the city doesn't appease to everyone. CP3 saw New Orleans as a place he could help get better. Jrue may see New Orleans as a shithole that he doesn't want his kid growing up in.
