Revenge game!

LINK

quote:

“It’ll be exciting, another opportunity to get a win,” Rivers said.

But he knew it was more than that. He composed himself and reworked his answer.

“Listen, obviously anybody plays their old team, there’s something there,” Rivers said.

quote:

“You just go out there, you shoot it, be aggressive, look for your shots,” Rivers said. “That’s how I’ve been my whole life. I haven’t been used to playing this free. I haven’t been this free since I was at Duke or in high school, and people know what I did there.
quote:

“This is just a better situation for me,” Rivers said. “I felt like (in New Orleans) I wasn’t able to play like me. I still had good games…but I feel like I could be better.”

His last 5 games:

18 MPG, FG%: 50%, 3P%: 43%, 5.8 PPG, 2.4 APG, 1 turnover per game.

For comparison, his career totals are:

21 MPG, FG%: 39%, 3P%: 33%, 6.8 PPG, 2.3 APG, 1.1 turnover per game.

What do you say? Do you think he has a point about being able to "play free"? Too small of sample size?

I guess he couldn't play free in nola because someone kept telling him to struggle to take the ball up the court and ignore the best player on our team when he drove. I'm sure he'll wax us tonight for 45 points, 12 assists, and 13 blocks on AD.

Eh. Monty empowered him this year, so it's on him more than anyone. He needed a change of scenery.

Also, he has a point. Our offensive system, if you can call it a system, can hardly be described as free-flowing. The pace we play at is a *bleeping* joke.

Agreed. While he was on a short leash at times, for good reason, he was tried out in different roles on the team, and excelled in none.

he had stretches in NOLA that were similar to his last 5 games for the Clippers. doesn't mean he will maintain. but if he does, then good for him. our former players seem to always enjoy going HAM against us (e.g., JR, Greivis, etc.)

I can't wait to watch him cross up Nate the Great and drive right by Ryan Anderson. Everyone in the arena will be whining.

I'm not sure what role they have him playing, maybe they just want him to score, we needed him to run the offense. If that's the case then he probably does have a point and many posters have pointed out we shouldn't be trying to make him a PG.

Anyone who think he will continue to shoot anywhere close to 50% from the field, 43% from three, is out of their mind.

I hope he puts up 30 shots tonight.
