Played in 79% of possible games played last year
They have played in 58% of possible games this season, and that's with Jrue playing 22 mpg when he plays and Asik 18 mpg when he played, which is 10 and 8 mpg less than they averaged last year, respectively
It's not really defending gentry, you just have to be a dumbass to blame the guy for inheriting a team full of guys made of glass. Like he chose the roster

Put any coach in his shoes, we may win 1 more game, 2 max. We got smoked in almost every loss, coaches don't play minutes.

Alvin didn't choose the roster, but he chose the opportunity because he thought he could win with this roster. This roster is 2-3 times deeper than the one we had to start the year last year. Yeah we have guys hurt, but we have plenty of talent to beat the Orlando's and New York's of the league. We are 1-7 in games that AD has played. AD is a top 5 player in the league. Something is wrong with that picture.

Our roster only went 6-7 deep last year before we signed cunningham and picked up players at the trade deadline. Look, I'm just frustrated. Gentry has 12 yrs exp as coach and went to the playoffs 2 times. He has never known how to scrap out wins when things aren't perfect and it's not going to change just because Tyreke and 2 more role players come back.

I'm not rdy to pass judgement, I want to see tyreke back first. He may very well suck, but he's in an impossible spot at the moment

9 games in with a depleted roster. In one breath you're going to moan about how crappy Demps is and the shite personnel he's put on this squad, and in the other breath you're going to try and pin it on the coach and crucify him after 9 games

They should've hired Tom Thibodeau or at least tried, the guy won games with his star player injured. Demps zeroed in on Gentry because he brought grafts and charts to his interview to show that AD should shoot more 3's. The guy is an arse Clown that dresses well. Thibs has a winning percentage of 64% Gentry has a winning percentage of 47%. I'll break it down for you 64% is better than 47%. In Gentry's 12 years as a head coach he went to the playoffs 2 times, his first time they lost in the first round (that was with Detroit which was a shortened season due to the strike). Gentry's only successful season as a coach came with the Phoenix Suns in 2009-2010 when they reached the conference finals and lost. One good season and the rest terrible.
Gentry is a good assistant coach that is it. You are what your record says you are.

The Gentry lovers can't take the truth that he's a lousy head coach. To be honest he's actually been worse than I thought he would be. People who believe that Gentry will be a good head coach ignore his record, they look at one year with Phoenix. Gentry's supporters that make excuses for why his teams lose.

Demps is an idiot and because Gentry showed up with charts and graphs for the interview he just wowed the idiot. Basically said if the Pelicans shoot more threes they will win more games.
Demps would never hire a guy like Thibs. Which by the way with the money that Thibs is getting from the Bulls he can be selective. Demps zeroed in on Gentry and everyone knew he was the guy the Pelicans were going to hire
