Please can we trade this no good overpaid glass for a center or SF so we can be a contender in the west.

I didn't want EG for Tyson Chandler at the deadline, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea.

Absolutely, and I think Tyson would embrace being on a team with a pulse

I honestly don't care what we do with EG anymore trade him for an expiring, a years worth of French fries, I don't care he obviously don't fit with this team and he's eating $15 mil that we could use on just about anyone

I think we may be able to pull off a trade with Denver for Mcgee they are both are on bad contracts but Mcgee's is slight less and EG has a player option for his last year. they need a sg bad and we need a 20 min C bad and Denver hates Mcgee.

Here's the long term effect of trading Gordon for Chandler. You're guaranteed to have that money off your cap for the 2015 offseason. Lets say they add an MLE 3 and D SF, resign Morrow, to the Bi Annual Exception, and draft about 15th in 2015. Everyone else they keep stringing along on their options, nothing long term (meaning no Aminu or Jason Smith). You'd have just $50 million on the books in 2015 meaning about $13 million in cap space if the cap raises to $63 million. If the MLE addresses the SF position, you still would have enough money to go after a guy like Asik and probably could afford to have kept Jason Smith around.

Holiday/Roberts/Jackson(or if Asik is cheap enough a veteran FA upgrade)
Evans/Morrow/Rivers
Ariza/Miller(can't leave him off list today after last night)/2015 1st
Davis/Anderson
Asik/Smith/Withey

If Demps can pick the right MLE SF, and the MLE SF market is pretty decent this year, then Gordon for Chandler is a no brainer. Everyone hope Melo either stays with the Knicks, or the Knicks desperately trade for Gordon on draft night in an effort to convince Melo to stay.

Just to be realistic for a moment, although I'm not suggesting we keep Gordon, his absence is not the reason we won the four games, imo. His absence alone is not evidence of anything.

Probably the thing Gordon has been best at this season is catch and shoot 3s. Both Morrow and Rivers can fill that role better. Between the 2 I think Morrow and Rivers can give you pretty much everything Gordon does for about $10 million less. There really is no defense of Gordon. He has a redundant skill set at an exorbitant price. That doesn't mean he's a bad player, that just means he needs to be on a team where he is less redundant so his price is more palatable.

Oh, I don't disagree, really.

But you want to. He has been over attacked and can be viewed as a sympathetic figure because of that, but the fact remains that this team will get significantly better once his contract is no longer on our books.

Not really when it comes to your specific post.

True. And I was watching the guy last night on the bench. He seemed like he genuinely was a good teammate and was encouraging the other guys.

He is overpaid and we'd be better off moving him. But I don't think he is quite the slug of a player some suggest, and, really, from what I hear (second hand, of course) he's not a bad guy or teammate.

I reiterate, I agree that he needs to be moved.

I really think that if the team can't get rid of EG they should just Curry him and make him sit on the bench in a suit. Here is my reason.

I was at the Brooklyn game the other night, I had never seen the chemistry for the Pelicans look so good. They looked like they really enjoyed playing with each other. If EG is not in our long term plans, why take minutes from players who are? Gelling is a real thing in the NBA, ESPECIALLY for defense. See the this years Clippers/Rockets teams.

Now that isn't really a knock on EG, I don't think he is some horrible teammate. But, Morrow brings a certain swag/edge/passion to this team that is desperately needed. He is the team hype man, this team needs that to get up for games. I think our recent success is directly related to his personal pride more so than Monty's coaching skills.

I don't think anyone is going to take Gordon, unless we take back something REALLY shitty. Hope I'm wrong.
