Heard they will be going down next season. About 90% of the arena.

That is all.

this is sad considering the Hornets have consistently been in the top 2 or 3 cheapest tickets in the NBA, and usually the cheapest. the fan base and basketball market in the Gulf South is a joke.

So you think a price increase or no change will attract people to games where the team has stunk for 2 years?

don't get stupid. be smart and educate yourself on the facts.

even when the Hornets had playoff contending teams the attendance and fan base was still weak. the only good attendance year the Hornets have had since coming here was 2008-09 after the nice playoff run in 07-08 and they averaged a little under 17k per game. since then they haven't averaged more than 14-15k per game and are fighting it out with Sacramento for dead last this season around 13k. raising the prices would be stupid, but lowering them even more than they are now is even worse. of course its good for the customers, but it reflects poorly on the market and overall look of the product. you can't win big every single season, but in New Orleans you have to in order to draw a decent crowd and pay the bills. that's not a good thing.

if they continue to lower the prices every couple of years then you can forget about competing long term. even as rich as Benson is he will eventually get tired of throwing money down a rat hole. keep the prices where they are at and keep steadily improving the team. they are heading the right direction, but it will annoy people more when they are a good team again in the next year or two and they jack the prices back up.

I have the facts, and you have some of the facts.

If you lower prices 10% and attact proportionately more people, you break even there, but you sell more parking, concessions, etc. and in-Arena advertising is worth more.

These guys are in for the long-haul and are building a fan base. If it isn't working in a few years, I'll worry, but that is the plan.

Winning is what sells unless you have a star or a legacy.

I posted facts about attendance in previous years. you're simply making a prediction of what will be if they continue to lower the already league bottom cheapest tickets. that's not facts. that's your opinion.

the Hornets have consistently lowered tickets and created incredibly cheap ticket packages over the years to attract fans. sometimes it has worked, but in the overwhelming majority of cases it hasn't worked. they need to stick to their guns and keep the prices where they are (which are already in the bottom three cheapest in NBA). if people want to experience the NBA around here then they should pay for it. it will do nothing but create future problems WHEN the team is good again and they go from dirt cheap tickets to expensive again. keep them the same for now.

It really doesn't matter what half-truths you strung together the past.

I'm not predicting anything. I'm explaining what is happening while you insult a fanbase that bought 10,500 season tickets and claim you can run the business side ofa sports team better than Dennis Lauscha.

so you're saying my attendance numbers from the past are "half-truths"? should I provide a link to backup the facts?

you posted speculation and opinions about the future IF the Hornets lowered ticket prices. I posted about their past attendance, yet its only half-true to you.

No speculation above. That is an explanation of the logic.

Post all the links you want. I know the numbers, the trends, etc.

You are complaining about reports of lowered ticket prices and speculating about how it'll be bad and insulting the fan base for 'forcing' this... in Benson's first season ticket renewal drive after he's stated he wants a packed house.

If people don't show on lower prices the season AFTER they start winning, then we'll have problems. Until then, settle down.
