I don’t see why you throw Didi in there, and honestly even NAW because of his draft slot, his expectations were probably a little to much given his summer league performance.

But when you take the entire thing, the trade, you can’t defend it. It was known to be a questionable move at the time, but now we know for definite that it was just bad.

What other trade do you think was out there? Or is that not important, sorry.

I think Griff valued the cap space gained more than anything else.

I will give a pass on the 2019 draft, as he was hired a little less than 2 months before the draft, which means he didn't have much time to scout outside of Zion.

So far 2020 with Kira looks like a win.

The one where you just stay put because you have the fourth pick in a solid draft and take DeAndre Hunter or Darius Garland.

That’s actually more reason to be pissed.

If you only had two months on the job and don’t feel confident in your scouting, then you absolutely don’t try and act like the smartest fricking guy in the room and try and trade back in the NBA because you think you know better than guys like Travis Schlenk, you take BPA and move on. Find other ways to offload salary if you want.

Or, you trade back to get 13 million in cap space and 2 extra chances to hit on the draft pick?

And how can you really know who BPA is, if you haven't had the chance to throughly scout everyone in and out?

When you don’t know how to scout and the NBA is historically front loaded?

We saw that experiment, it led to NAW and Hayes.

Dumb fricking move slick

Sam Hinkie famously chose Embiid because he had a simple approach with the draft, use aggregated BPA data around the league and internally and simply make the choice the numbers tell you unless you have some insider information. Never trade back because the numbers are never in your favor.

Very easy to put together a consensus BPA list.

Shitty move and I can’t believe people still want to go to bat for Griff in 2021with Hayes racking up DNP’s as one of the worst big defenders in the league and NAW getting benched in favor of a 19 year old rookie.

I didn't like the trade when it happened.

Then i hated who he actually picked.

What, was the trade supposed to somehow prevent LeBron and Tony from winning? Pointless that what the Lakers do even matters.

There was no other option and we made the best of the trade we possibly could.

Constantly bitching about Hayes or Oh NAW is going to get old fast.

Yea, you take Garland if you want to go for the home run or bust or take Hunter who was seen as a solid double(great 3&d guy coming off a championship)

Pretty hard to screw it up but Griff got cute and did just that.

I mean, what did people expect? Their expectations were way too high to begin with.

Hayes was a lottery ticket

The other 2 were/are very long shots to be anything based on when they were picked.

The draft basically played out like everyone said it would. There were 4-5 coveted guys at the top and the rest of the class was pretty crap.

You know what gets older even quicker, people coming into threads they have every ounce of free will in their power to avoid, simply to bitch and whine about the topic of discussion.

If you don’t want to talk about the 2019 draft, simply don’t fricking participate. It’s not that difficult to not click and and not type.
