I think we could get more than Pierce and Bradley at this point, as it is effectively a salary dump of between $29 and $44 million rather than a trade for assets.
Pierce is a good 3, but I seriously don't see him wanting to play for a rebuilding Pelicans team during the waning years of his career.
He might decide he is better off retiring. The good news on that is it means an additional $4m in cap relief compared to a buyout.
Bradley, OTOH, is a good defender but is shite on offense and going into a contract year.
If we replace Gordon with him, we have to replace a shitload of offense somewhere else, especially if Pierce retires.

We'd buy out PP and It'd create even more cap space.

Is Bradley really that good?
He's a really good defender. Other than that...I've personally never been that impressed.

For what? Are we going to try to sign CP3 and Dwight Howard?

Yes we know, but for what? To what end? We aren't going to get "major" FAs...at best we get a bunch of pieces.

We'd get cap space but would also need to pay big money for a 2 unless we grab Oladipo or McLemore in the draft and expect them to start on day 1.
Even though I've been a proponent of signing JJ Redick for the 2, I hesitate to do that without having a big like Pekovic brought in to shore us up at center.
We'd still also need to bring in a 3 if we bought out Pierce.

Read my other posts in this thread. I completely agree. We don't need more cap space now. Especially in a weak fa class. What we need to do is spend (or not spend) the space we have this year wisely.

What was cap space's PER last season?
Posted on 5/21/13 at 10:14 am to Chad504boy
0.0, which is still better than Rivers' PER.

Guys, I've been saying the exact same thing as y'all. I was just correcting the guys post cause he thought this would mean PP would actually play for us if this trade happened

Yeah Pierce wouldn't play a second for us. He would get bought out (for those thinking he would just retire...haha, no. He'll just refuse to report, get bought out, and go play a year for a contender like Miami, etc).

maybe paul pierce would welcome the opportunity to mentor doc's son down here since he used to ball with them in practice.

Austin Rivers is better than both of them.

Probably looking for attention again
His EC source is one of his supposed best friends that used to work for the Cavs (remember the Jack/Ariza for Antawn Jamison rumor?) and now apparently works for the Hawks. He mentions him enough that I think he's real and just passes on rumors. A rumor like this circulating is not surprising. We know Gordon is at least available if not being actively shopped and we know Ainge is trying to move Pierce.

Not sure if serious.

I can't see this working without a 3rd team involved to take Pierce or Demps flipping him in a separate trade.
