Could you please narrow down the topic just a tad? Otherwise my head will explode as a result of the excruciating decision which will ensue.

If we're mentioning guitar players which are worthy of nomination my list would include at least the following:

Vivian Campbell
Randy Rhoads
Jake E. Lee
Dave Mustaine
Marty Friedman
John Petrucci
Chuck Shuldiner
Dimebag Darrell
Adrian Smith/Dave Murray

Good one. Personally, I like the speed and intensity of "Domination" just a tad more, but "Floods" is probably the most technically intricate solo for Dimebag.

And I'm not even all that crazy about the song - but the solo is the tits - particularly when you narrow the topic to "metal" guitar solo.

Sublime and timeless. RIP Dimebag.

I like the live version (russia) of domination better.

So many to choose from. Off the top of my head:

Mr. Crowley---Ozzy
Over And Over---Black Sabbath, though it's a slow song, it might be Iommi's greatest. The closing solo is friggin amazing.
Hit The Lights---Metallica
Any song by the phenomenal Frank Marino

You just cant beat Eddie Van Halen Eruption.

Every single guitar player tries to play that one.

Floods is overrated. Listen to We'll Meet Again if you really want to hear Darrell shred.

Like some have said it is VERY tough to narrow it down. So I guess I'll go with pretty much my all-time favorite.

Randy Rhoads -- Mr. Crowley

I think Dimebag's solo on 10's is really underrated and one of my favorites.

His solo on Walk is really awesome. Nobody else sounds like that. So much balls.
