U2 fricking blows. They are worst than Phish and that's a hard feat to accomplish.

U2 has had maybe 3 good songs their whole career and Bono can't sing.

Um no. Not after Rattle and Hum and definitely not after Achtung Baby.

They were definitely a top 15 band in the 80's. Really different sound and harder edge in those days.

Its all fricking opinion. I love how everyone thinks their opinion is the single right one. Music is a matter of taste. I love U2 and are one of my favs bands. If some people think they are bad, thats fine too and their opinion. But nobody can say who is the best ever, its all a fricking opinion.

That's the music board in a nutshell.

Granted, I was drunk last night, but I left this thread to see what the responses were. The sheep did not disappoint. Most folks who responded likely only know U2 from their videos, only know Bono from his South Park parody(which was hilarious by the way). Which is fine--their loss.

Music--and all art--is so subjective, no opinion is really wrong. Unless it's based on ignorance, which I'm quite sure most U2 hate is. And that's fine. It's become cool to hate U2 and the sheep baah like they're told to, not knowing what they don't know. And Bono can admittedly be an insufferable douche.

But objectively--by whichever objective measures you can use(record sales, touring records, Grammys, etc..)--there is no denying U2 is one of the most important bands of all time. They have been relevant in 4 consecutive decades. For musicians, that's incredible. They've had to reinvent themselves--and their sound--so many times. And they still remain relevant. They are selling out stadiums--stadiums!-- 35 years after they were formed, not doing the sad and pathetic get back together farewell tours to hundreds every other night.

Somebody asked who I thought the best bands were. I think the Beatles and Stones are 1 and 2, for different reasons. You may make an argument for Led Zeppelin up there. But U2 is right there. Whether you want to accept it or not. History will crown them one of the best of all time. They already may be the most important.

Their persistence alone puts them in the Top 100. The fact that they've made some competent albums over 4 different decades is unheard of. Top 2-3 though... Na. Top 50 probably. Top 25...maybe.

I was thinking the same thing. This has to be a troll.

I am thankful that U2, or rather Bono exists, mainly because of this:

Only Led Zep can do that.

Jesus Christ on a mother fricking motor bike. One of these things just doesn't belong. And frick you for calling me a sheep, I've hated U2 since I first heard that shite when I was 12.

Here's a track listing for every U2 record ever made:

1.) Mediocre guitar riff absolutely completely fricking drenched until it's soaking wet in delay with Bono wailing about something that I'm supposed to think is deep or important on top of it

Really ground breaking, innovative shite, there, let me tell you.
