What genres of music attract the strongest musicians?

Every genre has its great talents (even disco ).
But, it seems like highly talented musicians are drawn to jazz. bluegrass, classical and opera (for vocals).
I used to think that bluegrass (and some country) was basically some hillbillies plucking on three strings attached to a cigar box. Then, I watched Marty Stuart play the mandolin, and Randy Scruggs play the acoustic guitar (both live). Marty Stuart kills the mandolin and never looks like he's trying very hard. Jerry Douglas owns the dobro.
Jazz is overloaded with strong musicians. I love listening to sax and have gotten where I enjoy the trombone solos.

I would say classical. It requires a high level of skill and training to master most any classical piece.

You left out progressive rock/metal, but that's got a relationship to jazz.

If we're talking pure musicianship (e.g. technical ability, speed proficiency, improvisation, etc.), then jazz and each of its offshoots has the greatest collection of musicians.
People are going to dismiss me for saying this but heavy music is often filled with great musicians because of how damn bombastic and over-the-top it has to be. From jazz we get progressive rock/metal which has some of the most impressive rhythm players you will ever see.
Also, believe it or not, death metal has some of the most technically-skilled musicians you will ever find. Many of them implement a jazz fusion into their music which takes the music in an entirely different direction.
If we are talking vocalists then obviously operatic singers are the most impressive. However, power metal often has its fair share of classically trained singers with just as impressive of a vocal range as their operatic counterparts.

jazz and classical. Chris Thile always has my nod as best mandolin player due to his work vocally with punch brothers and nickel creek.
