Stumbled into the NPR stream of Valerie Junes new album -- and really enjoying it.

Valerie June via NPR

Curious what the MB thinks of her. Voice is obviously the thing that will stand out first, but the songs are well crafted -- seem to really have a great blend of classic feel but also fresh. I like it a lot.

I like her voice. I just wish she had a band behind her when I saw her last week. It was a really boring show.

well, good to know. I started looping the new record a bunch and got really into it and was disappointed she was in NOLA last week and I missed it.

sounds like i shouldnt be too disappointed.

It really is an excellent record though!

She had a band behind in Birmingham last Friday and put on a great show. She did an a cappella version of Uncloudy Day that was amazing.

Saw her on Austin City Limits this past Saturday.

Very good sound. Unique, old soul/folk sound.

You Cant Be Told, Somebody to Love, TN Time were a few good ones.

Eager to seek out more! Amazon Prime has OP album & Pushin Against a Stone albums for free stream.
