I have a Bugera V22 tube amp that I bought used. It was great, but the last month or so there has been a buzzing sound that comes in and out while I am playing. I am trying not to bring it in to a guitar repair shop and get charged out the arse just to get it looked at.

Check to make sure its not your cable first. Sometimes a bad cable will cause the amp to buzz on and off. If not that, its probably the tubes. They may just need to be replaced. If after replacing them it continues, I'd take it in.

Who's going to bias it?

If you have a $10 radio shack multimeter, you can bias it yourself. I have biased hundreds of tubes and it takes about 5 minutes.

And chances are, if he hasn't checked all the tubes in the head since it was new or the tubes were put in, I'll bet the farm they are out of bias anyway. They drift over time. I used to check my tube amps about monthly--a real pain in the arse. The newer amps will auto bias!
