Reporter: "What does it feel like to be the best guitarist alive?"
Eric Clapton: "I don't know. Ask Trey Anastasio."

Clapton always doubted his abilities. It was years before he could even face the crowd while playing and took him forever to try and sing.

Its also an old quote. When Trey was in his 20s/early 30's he was the best in the world. Drugs and age have taken there toll.

What does "top guitarist" encompass?

If you include writing, then keef Richards would be toward the top...if singing while playing, then Jimi and clapton get extra points...versatility (studio & live), then I like Duane...pure technical skills, probably some classical guitarist that I don't know.

Got to see him live at the varsity back in the mid 90's. One of the best performances i have ever witnessed. It's a shame he had to leave us so quickly.
