I am not a big country music fan but I have always loved Toby. I love his style and the fact that most of his music is fun. He is also very good in concert. Ive seen him a few times at smaller venues and really enjoyed his shows

He has been fighting stomach cancer for a while now and took time away from his touring to try and fight. It is taking a toll on him though. Lots of weight loss and he is moving slowly.

Really hope he beats this and gets back to doing what he enjoys.

quote:

Back in June 2022, the country singer, 61, revealed to fans that he was taking time away from music to receive chemo, radiation and surgery after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in fall 2021.

In an upcoming interview with CMT Hot 20 Countdown — which marks his first since he revealed his diagnosis — Keith said that he's optimistic about his future, stating, "I need a little bit of time to just rest up and heal up."

"It's pretty debilitating to have to go through all that, but as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we'll look at something good in the future," he continued.

Yep, I'm a fan of his too. As long as he's optimistic, he will be OK.

Sammy Hagar with his Rock and Roll road trip did a stop at Tobys place a little while back and it was a great show.

Man, that guy can write. He's a smart guy, interested in the right kind of stuff too.
We need more like that... damn, I'm tryin.
To be honest, he kind of let me down in that video a little bit, when he wasn't positive about what carb the Cutlass has on it.
When you aren't sure what carb that your Convertible Cutlass has on it, you have too many cars.. or maybe too much other stuff.
Damn though, what a hell of a life.
That Takamine he was playin, was nice too. I don't know if I've seen that model before.
It had the bridge with the 2 piece saddle and no string pegs like mine though.

Praying he keeps mending. Good guy and great performer.

I love that he calls music critics "frustrated musicians.

Get well soon!

Always liked his music and seems like a likeable guy. Hope he gets through it.

Yeah, but I know what carbs are on my old cars and trucks, and everything else about them, because I work on them myself
I like Toby Keith ( and that was an older video I think), but I can't imagine being that rich, where I'm not sure what carb is on my cutlass convertible, because I just pay someone else to take care of it.
Keeping my old stuff running great myself, is part of the cool thing about having it.
And you left out that I smoke some weed sometimes, and that's when I don't mind typing. If I'm just drinkin, I don't type. I don't even want to talk.

I get it but somehow, I think he was a fairly busy guy with all he did. He may not have had time to rebuild engines. I grew up a gear head so I get where you are coming from. I remember the first time I worked on my dads 73 Pontiac LeMans that eventually become my first car. Straight 6. Froze over and the freeze plus blew out. Had to help my dad and his friend rebuild that bitch. I was young, cold and hated it.

If they had hooked you up better, and you had something bad arse, you might have gotten more interested.
6 cylinder 73 Lemans.. you would have more fun on the bus.

Didnt matter. I was 16 and getting a car. Didnt care. I loved that car. Just hated working on it in February when it was cold as hell and I was getting bossed around by 2 men.

Mine looked like this. Silver 2 door with a red top. Thing was a tank. I rode the shite out of that thing

Trust me I remember how they looked. I have a real ghost story that involved a 74 pontiac Grand Am in a race at Pete's Corner in Limestone County, Alabama, USA circa 1978.
I'm always trying to put that whole thing in a song, I haven't found a good way yet though.

..or maybe not..
I remember one of my friends saying, way back when,
"Pontiac makes them like that so their butthole doesn't slam shut when they send it out the door"
The Firebirds were killing it.

get your arse to writin boy

here's some inspiration from the boss

I got a sixty-nine Chevy with a three-ninety-six
Fuelie heads and a Hurst on the floor
She's waiting tonight down in the parking lot
Outside the Seven-Eleven store
Me and my partner Sonny built her straight out of scratch
And he rides with me from town to town
We only run for the money, got no strings attached
We shut 'em up and then we shut 'em down
