I started playing some of their songs live and I'm thoroughly enjoying it:

To me one of the most underrated bands of all time. Saw them at the Varsity in 93 or 94 and they killed it.

As I wrote here:
quote:

The result of a bizarre scientific experiment mating Power Pop with Southside Johnny, The Smithereens have been one of America's great bar bands for over 30 years.
"Behind The Wall Of Sleep"

"In A Lonely Place"

"Christmas Time All Over The World"

As a Smiths fan, they always pissed me off b/c their albums would be mixed in with the Smiths.

Terrific band. A Girl Like You was dropped from the Say Anything soundtrack because it gave away too much of the plot.

Completely agree. And some of the most underrated bass driven songs of all time.

Obviously took some queues from Elvis Costello as well.

Great great band

From "Wall of Sleep"

she held a bass guitar and was playing in the band

and she stood just like Bill Wyman

I am her biggest fan

I honestly think if on Blood and Roses, the bass player would have played a Rickenbacker paired with the guitarists Ric that would have been absolutely amazing sound. The Fender sounds really sloppy for some reason to me on that video.

Love them. Saw them a couple of times this year at the Stone Pony earlier in the year and Labor Day weekend at the Wonder Bar.
Pat's health is not good these days and he can't really use his right hand.
The original lineup is playing soon at a benefit.

I heard that. I heard he's having a lot of physical therapy but he's coming along ok.

11 was a great album. Listened to that all the time back in the day. They really nailed that mid-60s British Invasion sound.

She had hair like Jeannie Shrimpton, back in 1965
She had legs that never ended
I was halfway paralyzed
She was tall and cool and pretty
And she dressed as black as coal
If she'd ask me to, I'd murder
I would gladly lose my soul

Especially for You, Green, 11 are awesome. DiNizio's vocals are perfect.

My favorite tune. Cigarette

Listen to me Girl

Like Kafka said(and I quote), "They are a very underrated band."

Really? A sticker? How does one go about getting a sticker of a band like that? It must have come in their albums or something.

You must have noticed it when I use to make you carry my books.
